Misunderstanding of the rules...1st the mexican steped on his foot/toes,and a foul....2nd he impeded the attackers progress to the ball which is also a foul, a pk in this instance, 3rd the mexican must make contact with the ball first before contacting the attacker to avoid being called for a foul, he didn't...

And mexico escaped an earlier for pk when robben was fouled by two defenders...

I recall a dutch player being carried off after a forearm smash to the back of his head, then seeing the team doctor apply a medical stapler on the open wound so he could re-enter the match...oh ya these guys are such (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*):roflol:...what I notice about people like yourself who talk the tough game, they've never actually played any sports in their lives otherwise they wouldn't come with such crap...

    *L* I love it.

Soccer is un-American! It's part of a liberal conspiracy to destroy this country!

regarding the missed calls earlier in the game, I would only say that there are lots of missed calls in every game. regarding the critical call, I, along with several million Mexicans, will respectfully disagree with your characterization of it.

That's what happens. Match officials don't have eyes in the back of their heads or x-ray vision so some fouls will always be missed and frequently show up on replays. Thank goodness that the only technology allowed to interfere with the free flow of the game is that (as in tennis) which shows whether a ball has crossed the goal line or not if a goal is in dispute, otherwise we could end up like American football where nothing happens while officials peer into monitors, stalling the game.

let's assume your view of the pk foul is correct and it wasn't a foul, isn't that also a missed call?...the official made the wrong decision in both situations, one benefited your team one went against it...a missed call excuse can't only be applied when it favours the team you support...

I agree I dont want to see the game slowed down but the new goal line technology has worked well...I would like to see video evidence used to repeal yellow and red card decisions post game, Suarez was sent home based on video evidence even though the ref saw nothing...it's a slippery slope knowing where to cut off video technology ...

and you assume that those two calls were the only questionable calls (or non-calls) in the entire game? I don't make that assumption. It seems to me, however, that to award a PK, at that late hour, on what was, from my perspective, a borderline call, meant that the game was decided not on the superlative play of the athletes, but by the questionable decisions of officials.... not how it should have been decided, imo.

I wish right wingers would stop defending Coulter just because she too is right wing. I'm more than willing to admit that people like Pelosi and Reid and Bill Mahar are jackasses. Right wingers can criticize Ann Coulter without betraying their right leaning ideology. The woman is a clueless hateful (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) pure and simple. Defending her speaks volumes.

I dont make that assumption at all, but you can't pick and choose which missed calls are important according to your own teams bias(argentians would agree with me after not being awarded a late pk)...what time the game a foul is called cannot enter into the officials decision, if fouls late in the game were ignored to the benefit the team leading in the score it would completely ruin the game, it would give a free pass for defenders to foul attacking players...as it is now teams trailing by a goal have a tremendously difficult time to score an equalizing goal, giving a free pass to foul to the leading team would ruin the game...

Im not sure she actually believes what she spouts, being extremely controversial reactionary is how she earns a living...who would buy her books or pay her for appearances if she wasnt controversial? She has a niche market of gullible extreme right wing loons who eat up everything she pukes out and she's going to exploit it for every dollar she can...

I played sports my whole life, including football, soccer, basketball, rugby, wrestling, and track & field. I also spent four years in the USMC infantry and did a combat deployment to Iraq for seven months.

So, how does it feel to be so wrong?

oh B.S...you posted this " Soccer is the only sport where the clock just keeps running no matter what is happening on the field." really? can we say NFL! :roflol: and yet you claim to have played football! :roflol: BULL!....you know nothing about any sport, let alone soccer...

no real athlete or anyone with extensive athletic knowledge could be that ignorant about sports in general...

    Describing your own opinion?

Yes, really. In the NFL, the clock stops if the ball goes out of bounds, there is a penalty, there is an incomplete pass, a change or possession, or a time-out is called. In soccer, the clock runs regardless. Apparently, you have no idea how either sport works.

I did play football and soccer, and no amount of uninformed blather on your part will change that. Sorry if the sport you like is full of fakers and cry-babies, but that is no reason to go around making dishonest accusations against other posters, especially when they're right and you're wrong.
