As opposed to the normal soulless gingers that they normally use? At least this girl has a chance of an afterlife.

Look at it this way, they can't do worse than how bad people saw the prequels.

It seems that some have a hard time casting fictional characters and casting those of former real life people. Is there really an issue with knowing a real life vs a fictional character for some?

I've never considered a fictional character as a role model or hero. They're simply for entertainment.
And what they look like has no bearing on the character that is being displayed as a role model or hero for those who choose them to be.

I will disagree that it will flop. I believe it will meet its expectations in gross revenue projectins, both here and worldwide.

The problem that most people have with Annie is that it is a political satire of the events of that time. Not much is written about this perpective, but it is there. for instance, Annie, Warbucks, the Secretary, Punjab, and Ms hannigan represented the variuos classes of socieity at that time.

BTW, five movies were made. Two in the 1930's. one in 1982, one in 1999, and today's release. The 1930's movies were based on the comic strip. The 1982 and 1999 movies were based on the broadway play. And this one is simply a modern version of today.

This movie is a situaitonal commedy that can relate to today's audience in more ways than you expect.

I'm sure nobody would get upset if Leonardo Decaprio played the fictional character 'Shaft' in a remake of that 1971 classic..........complete with a Van Morrison soundtrack..........LMAO at the silliness

It would be silly now wouldn't it.
Do you consider shaft as a hero?
    Annie as a hero?

Did you know that an austraillian girl played annie in austraillia? Though she was white, she wasn't american. Aghast.

BTW, THIS was the leaked plot for the FF reboot. The director or somesuch swears it's a lie, but maybe he had to after word got out and it was universally condemned to the point that even Galactus threatened to eat the earth to spare us that travesty of a movie.

Didn't graduate highschool I see. Ginger isn't a race, but I wouldn't expect you to be intelligent enough to know that.

So your basis of belief is in the narrow area you live and believe an entire population world wide is the same.
At least you aren't shy about your racism.

Now hopefully others in the world don't judge us white americans based on their view of you.

Actually I have a graduate degree, my own business, three residences and could probably buy and sell you ten times over. 'Ginger' is a racist, derogatory term........but you knew that when you used it........

Because it's just ridiculous. That's what political correctness has come to nowadays.

If they want to cast a Black character in a leading role, they should write a new story, rather than making a grotesque Franken-film out of an American classic.
They did it the right way when they produced The Color Purple.

So what if it is? Shouldn't the acting skills that matters?

Let's say if they remade all of the lord of the rings movie and replaced all the characters with black. It's no big deal. No one is going to die. There are other adaptations of movies you can watch where there are white characters.

Except there was nothing in the LOTR books that suggested that the characters had dark skin. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Even if the movie goes against the books then it is no big deal.

Movies are not meant to be an accurate portrayal of books. It's an adaptation.

How often do you think Othello was played by a black actor in the past 400 years?
