Another mass shooting deserves a better answer.

So you want to be able to track a gun after a mass shooter uses it, and you'd like to train them to be better shooters.

Firearm accidents are one of the lowest types of accidental deaths in the country. 0.4% of all accidental deaths, if I remember correctly.

Get an amendment, and law abiding citizens will follow along. Otherwise, this just more fascist anti-American ranting...

"The claim that the United States had 251 mass shootings in the first 216 days of 2019 originates from data collected by the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), a non-profit organization that tracks gun-related violence in the U.S. The GVA counts any incident in which four or more people were shot and/or killed. Also, the GVA list includes ALL incidents of gun violence, meaning that they don’t exclude incidents involving gangs or domestic violence:"

You don't need a license to buy a car, own a car, keep it on private property, or use it on private property.
You don't need to register a car to own it, keep it on private property, or use it on private property.
So, you don't REALLY want to treat guns like cars.

Why, are you trying to take away their guns too? *rimshot*

Abortion is designed to kill and has killed more people than guns. The difference is, abortion ALWAYS ends in death. You wish to ban or regulate one, but not the other. Why is that?
Every time abortion comes up I hear about the women's "rights", but this right is not spelled out in the constitution like the RIGHT to bear arms. Why are women's rights more important than mine?

Keep your guns on private property then and no one will have a problem with that.

At least one of them in El Paso said she was sorry she left her gun at home.

Cars aren't constitutionally protected like guns.

If only I remembered to bring my gun I would have been the hero.

When you buy a car you have a license and registration. If you sell that car, the registration must be filed with the new owner. If you bring your car to another state as a permanent resident, you must register that car's license with that state. If you lend your car to someone, and they cause an accident, YOU are on the hook for that. If your car is stolen and you do not report it and it is used in committing a crime or is in an accident, you could falsely be held liable for damages.

Substitute "gun" for "car", and you greatly reduce illegal gun trafficking, illegal purchases, etc.

You can't do anything about your alleged 200K semiautomatic rifles in circulation...what we can do is bring back the AWB and make sure that NO MORE of these weapons can be easily purchased and ADDED to that number. Remember, the weapons used in Dayton and El Paso were on that list before it expired and the GOP refuses/blocks any renewal.

The Gun Nuts in America are like Jihadists....Fanatics that worship the gun over their fellow citizens.....They have distorted the Second Amendment to the point where no sensible law or regulation can be implemented

Factually incorrect. The ATF has already proven that licensing and registration requirements do not actually reduce the illegal trafficking of firearms.

That matter aside, mass shootings are not coming about as a result of the illegal trafficking of firearms. Rather they are being committed by those who have legally purchased their firearms through a federally licensed firearms dealer. Therefore such proposals hold no merit with regard to such discussions.

And the majority of mass shootings in the united states, including the deadliest school shooting, are committed with handguns that were not prohibited by the legislation in question.

It appears you worship jackboot authoritarians and need to be told what you can and cannot do.

Well, there is that pesky Constitution and like Justice Kavanaugh wrote:

    THIS again, Jeez.
You do not need a license to buy a car, own a car, store a car on your property, or operate in on private property.
You do not need to register a car to own it, store it on your property, or operate it on private property.
    Your analogy, again, fails.

Owning and driving a car is not a right. It's a privilege.

:icon_jawdrop: What a fool to think that the clap trap above dodges the FACT that the attacks in Texas and Ohio were done with weapons that were on the AWB list of 1994 … the one the GOP refuses to reinstate after it sunset. The OP stands valid.

Thank you. Our right wing wonks have a problem with facts and the logic derived from them.

When was the last time you had some racist clown storm into a public place and try to inject as many people as possible with an overdose?

One thing right wing wonks do consistently is dodge the truth by trying to change the subject.

Remember, the weapons used in Texas and Ohio were on the AWB of 1994 list...the one the GOP fights to keep from being reinstated.

No, let's bring back the AWB of 1994, that would have kept the weapons used in Ohio and Texas out of the shooters hands.

Amazing how you avoid contrary facts by creating your own convoluted version of reality.
