This is the finalised agreed wording on article 2 released today July 11th 2012. The only difference to it from the last one is this has been added: "with the Honorable Al Azhar as the final authority to explain it. The followers of Christianity and Judaism have the right to be apply their own laws when it comes to personal affairs, religious practice, and the selection of their spiritual leaders"
In the future, I hope it tends toward far more plural and secular ideals. Good to see the shift towards something more plural, even if limited.
Isnt that a good thing? Also, it included the line: "The followers of Christianity and Judaism have the right to be apply their own laws when it comes to personal affairs, religious practice, and the selection of their spiritual leaders"
Only for those who prefer a less plural society where both religion and law are dictated by the government.
Setting al azhar as an independent form of verification, is better than retaining an authoritarian overview by the government. Also you didnt address the inclusion of the other line. Typical avoidance of the facts. Pathetic.
. .............................. so called Jewish Here IS the Zionist Apartheid State With their infernal racial/religious set-asides, racial/religious quotas, and race/religion norming, Zionists share many of the Klan's Fascist premises. The Klan sees the world in terms of race and ethnicity. So do Zionists! Indeed, Religious Radicles and Jewish Supremacists are the only people left in America & Israel who are Psychoticly obsessed ............. with race. People of Good Will champion a color-blind Society "BestViewedWithCable" needs a Reality Check People who Hate seldom recognize themselves as the source of that Hate They rather Absurdly Project that Hate upon the other to Justify their Atrocities .
What about Buddhism? What if person is not the follower of any religion? Are they then outside the law?
The personal status laws have always protected the rights of Christians and Jews in Egypt and allowed them to have their own court of law as regards personal affairs, religious laws etc.
Sure but it creates its own opinions on religious matters, hence why they have been critical as well as supportive of government institutions. Hopefully government appointment of particular positions within the university will cease. The current revolution appears to be directly tending towards restoring its independence, hence my earlier point. Read this: http://carnegieendowment.org/files/al_azhar.pdf
LOLOLOL!!! First sentence beautifully and directly contradicts your assertion and confirms mine. and you arent bright enough to even realize.
Dont laugh at yourself, it makes you look retarded. How's that? How's that? I said before it could and should be more independent.
How is that news ? Muslim Arabs force a racist law book written 1500 years ago as the law of the land. Sorry, no news.
As Mayerling pointed out, there is no shift towards anything more plural here. The absence of any reference to the political rights of Christians and Jews is striking, however.
