Only someone who has no confidence in the human race would say this.

If we do not get rid of religion, religion most certianly will kill us off.

Islamic religion maybe. But Liberals don't seem to have a problem with that one.

Um...no. Your commentary is pure insane hatred of Christianity. Christian scientists are responsible for a tremendous portion of our scientific advances.

    Your comment is loony tunes.

The universe didn't have to "come from nothing" for atheism or a-deism to be true. That doesn't make sense because first of all, reality isn't physical, it's conceptual, and secondly, "time" did not exist before the Big Bang.

The 2nd law of thermodynamics also makes it such that this universe, with it's laws, must have had a beginning a finite period of time ago.

The graph is not supported by historical or is anything close to accurate.

Ben Franklin was a theist. He's more reasonable than you.

It's just a personal opinion either way, which is why there's no reason to argue over it.

If he believes in "God", that does not automatically make him intellectually inferior to you. Frankly, that is just a stupid sentiment.

First of all it's your subjective opinion that he's more reasonable than me, secondly, the reason why I don't believe in fairy tales is because of MODERN SCIENCE, which Franklin was never exposed to. He never knew about modern atomic or cosmological theory or modern genetics etc.

Not necessarily "intellectually inferior", but more deluded, at the very least, about this issue. Belief in God/afterlife comes from wishy washy conformity as well as wishful thinking; wanting to believe that an all-powerful protector exists.

There's no evidence either way, so there is no objectively correct or rational position to take. Each possibility has the exact same probability as far as we know. It's literally a coin toss. Heads is no more a rational decision than tails.

I can't disagree. As much as I want to respect peoples religion it's pretty stupid. I prefer to just avoid the subject entirely because it causes me to look down on people. No offense is intended, but if I came up to you and said that unicorns were fighting an eternal war in the center of the Earth you'd look down on me too. Religion is the same thing, just a strange fantasy.

There is no "burden of proof" because this is not a scientific question. It is purely a matter of personal opinion that has no objectively more rational choice.

Yes so you believe in dragons, unicorns, and other fantasy creatures as well correct? After all there is no evidence either way. I'm not trying to insult, I'm just saying that by the logic you're using you should believe in every fanciful being ever thought up. You can't disprove their existence any more than you can prove it after all.

Oh, I'm sorry. When did MODERN SCIENCE refute the existence of God? I must have missed it.

The logical default is to not believe in something that we can't observe or manifest in any way.

And these religious fruitcakes still haven't learnt how to live with other people. They still murder and slaughter thousands of people 'in the name of Allah'. Who can believe that such rubbish, dressed up as religion, is still being peddled around in the 21st century!

    No.

    Exactly my point.

Exactly. It cannot be proven or disproven, so what's the sense in arguing or judging people.

That's only in a scientific context and I am no slave to science.

It's just basic philosophical logic. You don't assume that something exists until it can be directly or indirectly manifested. That applies to math, physical things, etc....it applies to everything. It applies to everything equally. Such is because everything is ultimately conceptual; informational; everything is linked together fundamentally because of this, so they all follow the same rules concerning reason. A few of these include:

-you can't assume something is true nor likely true unless it can be either deduced or induced,

-you can only be truly aware that your mind exists and nothing else, and

-any certainly true statement is both self-consistent and self-contained.

Yes, but at least we can observe the greenhouse gas effect, and CO2 being released from car engines. We can't observe faires or dragons or God, or any evidence thereof.
