It had EVERYTHING to do with misquoting and cherry picking

This 'decline' referred to the well-discussed tree ring divergence problem, but these two phrases were taken out of context by climate change sceptics, including US Senator Jim Inhofe and former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, as though they referred to some decline in measured global temperatures, even though they were written when temperatures were at a record high.[32] John Tierney, writing in the New York Times in November 2009, said that the claims by sceptics of "hoax" or "fraud" were incorrect, but that the graph on the cover of a report for policy makers and journalists did not show these non-experts where proxy measurements changed to measured temperatures.[33] The final analyses from various subsequent inquiries concluded that in this context 'trick' was normal scientific or mathematical jargon for a neat way of handling data, in this case a statistical method used to bring two or more different kinds of data sets together in a legitimate fashion.[34][35] The EPA notes that in fact, the evidence shows that the research community was fully aware of these issues and that no one was hiding or concealing them.[36]

They are robustly, comprehensively, and consistently wrong. But it’s OK, they only want 0.06% of GDP (for now).

I am aware that we are lacking behind. However, despite their topnotch school system and free Unis, you wonder why so many countries, like France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, just to name a few, can't get their act together to do better in an economical sense. Their youth unemployment rate is huge.
I am struggling to see the reason behind all this. Anyway, different subject.

It would be an interesting subject to discuss. Just a brief overview. You will find that the majority of EU countries are abandoning antiquated technology for the latest modern technology in all scientific areas - this is the reason why their unemployment is high at the moment, and their economies are suffering. It will take time for everything to adjust, and they know it, but they also know their suffering now will be short lived, as they have started down the right path to long-term future prosperity. They are doing the "hard-yards" now, but setting their people up education wise to take full advantage of the coming "BOOM" in renewable technologies and sciences.

There is not many EU countries at the moment, that within the next 20 years, who will not be completely self-sufficient on renewable free energy, and will no longer need to buy dirty coal from countries like Australia that are still using antiquated fossil fuels and technology.

While Australian politicians chuck our unemployed youth on the pile of uselessness as a waste to tax payers to the extent they are worthless commodity to be used in humiliating work packing food into boxes and picking weeds out of gardens; the EN countries would be educating these unemployed youth, and setting them up as the next generation of tax payers and workers in their new technologies and industries.

You have been to Europe, and you know they are technologically and intellectually 10-15 years ahead of us. It begs the question. Why are we electing just idiots to run our country and govern our people, when they can see the changes happening around the world, and refuse to make or adopt any changes here in Australia to help us compete.

there is not much I can hold against, the short fix always remains our biggest enemy, plus a vision free Messiahs....
