Eastern germany is fundamentally different to the west. Also Germany is one of the most dense populated nations, we dont need more people. We need less. In fact if you were to check out the history of Europeans today and since WWII, the period which effects us most, you'd see that Islam is far less tolerant of women and other religions anywhere in the world, even in Europe. I'm not convinced that this is true. Islamic societies have always dealt with larger groups of minorities, including religious minorities, than Europe has. So, Europe is just now entering a similar situation as Islam has always found itself. They're not handling that fact very well. I'm not one to pretend that modern Islam is tolerant or peaceful, modern Islam has a deep, dangerous cultural malaise, and the religion itself is part of the problem. I'm no stranger to controversial opinions on this topic, but we need to be careful what we understand the problems Islam faces to be, and this requires an honest look at history.
Rights have to be fought for and then fought for to be maintained. Most of Europe and North America has no idea of fighting for rights - only enjoying them. As an example,note how easily they'll throw them away in regard to 'free speech' and insist on language which is 'less offensive' instead.

that is not true. Italy recognizes Islam as a bone fide religion and mosques can be built anywhere, just like churches. You seem to be referring to the the failed attempt by a right wing party of bigots to pass legislation banning such construction, except it never got passed. Are you aware that the Mosque of Rome is the largest mosque outside of the Muslim sphere?

No, it requires an honest look at the situation now. Whatever Europeans or Muslims did during the period of our grandparents is of little consequence now. We should also keep in mind that Islam was the third major religion to arrive in the ME and now, largely through violence, claim the entire area for themselves. Europeans have been an advanced area of the world for centuries while the Middle East is just being introduced to the modern era, and is often not handling it all that well.
