Leo DiCaprio Bought a Beverly Hills House – DIRT

Private jets, 300-ft. superyachts, and tens of thousands of square feet of residential real estate. This one man and his family consume more carbon in a month than a dozen families in a year... and the hypocrite has the nerve to tell me to ride the bus.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

"Rules for thee, but not for me."

Am I the only one detecting a pattern here?

This sort of climate hypocrisy seems to be standard operating procedure for people deep into this climate cult. I assume there is a system of indulgences that allow them to stake out of the consequences of their speech.

You've never heard of Albert Gore, Jr.? Never met a 10,000-sf mansion he didn't want to occupy with only two people or a private jet it didn't want to ride on while chiding us unwashed to take the bus and live in a concrete high-rise. Yunno, for the climate.

Just like masks - these *******s actually know they're full of **** but have the arrogance to think they're actually fooling us. Rules for thee, but not for me.

I agree that DiCaprio is a hypocrite but so are all of us so I'm not going out of my way to complain. Its like obese people who realize they have a problem but have trouble following through with their goals. My problem is why are celebrities trying to be the spokespeople of climate action rather than scientists and people with a lot more knowledge on the topic.

Most people have other things to worry about than trying to hold down and rule over their fellow man. Its mostly people who are too wealthy and pampered and dont have enough of their own hardships to worry about that start looking for ways to mitigate all the little people they see running all over 'their world'. This world isn't for us to live like them. Its for them to live like them on top of us. This is just the new elite aristocracy, the new feudalism, complete with the new peasants who think some people are simply meant to rule over them. Controlling carbon is how this neofeudalism can be achieved.

Any movement in which the leaders are celebrities automatically makes me suspicious.

Not me really. Celebrities tend to support these feel good type of causes like helping kids with autism, or building schools for kids in Africa. Don't watch DiCaprio's documentary, just look at the actual science.

We should support climate action that requires sacrifices from everyone, especially elites.

The left and the media adored him for decades right up until he put an R next to his name. On command the left went from love to hate.

I am not totally convinced of the urgency. Then we have the elites who consume magnitudes more carbon than we do and we do not hear a peep out of the scientists and other advocates telling them that they are a major part of the problem. That makes me suspicious, especially when one of the major abusers is Al Gore who just also happens to be our climate czar.

Scientists have been very clear that we are all part of the problem. Scientists don't focus as much on voluntary personal action because its an ineffective solution to climate change compared to unilateral global action. The idea of your "carbon footprint" was actually introduced by British Petroleum to try to get people focused on themselves and ignore the handful of large corporations that are responsible for the majority of emissions.

The people who do the advocating should be yelling at the worse abusers. Instead, they accuse republicans of being antiscience.

The elites are a tiny fraction of a population and a tiny fraction of total emissions. Sure, its satisfying to call out hypocrites but it barely makes a dent in stopping this crisis. Focusing too much on individual emissions isn't going to fix this crisis, and is just a distraction created by big oil that has worked very well for them. This is especially true because the majority of American's carbon footprint is actually out of their direct control.

But each one is a hundreds of times more than mine. If it doesn't bother Gore, our climate czar, why should it bother me.

The policies proposed by climate experts will require change from everyone, elites and common people. And lets be real, you and I are part of the global 1%. We are elites too. Lets set the example then right?

We are not elites. We are part of the masses who are supposed to do our part while the real elites do nothing. You say the amount of carbon contributed by the elites is insignificant. That being the case, mine is less than insignificant.

You are wasting your time. You need to preach to the Al Gores.
