    Gas at the pump has always been cheaper in the USA than elsewhere. I spent about half my twenty year Army career overseas where we were issued "ration coupons" we could use at civilian gas stations. These coupons allowed us to pay the same cheaper prices we would pay "back home". We did, indeed, have "energy independence" under Trump (we exported more energy than we imported).

    There are many politicized definitions. The commonly accepted definition, however, is "exporting more energy than we import".

    We've had four impeachments and only one - Clinton's -- can maybe possibly be considered half-way non-partizan, and he brought it upon himself. The other three were totally, unabashedly, in your face partizan and mostly contrived.

    You reduce the available supply, even if it is upcoming, and the demand stays the same, the price goes up..... always.

    He was already caught trying to get lenders to stop loaning to the oil extraction industry. It's a capital intensive business, and that move was designed to kill it. I question whether federal central bank funds can be use to favor and disfavor companies based on politics.

    He probably doesn't know. It's the shadow government led by Ron Klain running our country calling the shots.

    Gas prices are derived from the price for oil, which is set by OPEC.

    Gasoline prices are determined by oil executives based on anticipated costs of things, including crude oil, not yesterday's cost of things. Besides OPEC just reduced its production which is designed to increase the cost of oil.

    In another thread, energy independence was defined as; We produce more energy than we consume.

    Thus, there are how many definitions?

    In addition, we are still exporting more energy than we import.

    It is set by OPEC !!!!!!!

    American companies want to sell on the world markets because they make more money at OPEC prices, therefore OPEC sets the prices. Also understand that Saudi Arabia is a member of OPEC, and they own the largest US refinery.

    a. we are still exporting more energy than we are importing, and

    b. we are still producing more energy than we are consuming .

    Please tell me why your Republican brothers and sisters keep saying; “When Trump was POTUS, we were energy independence”, when in fact WE STILL ARE!
