Aliens turning themselves in at border portals for processing are not illegally crossing the border.

All they have to do is make an asylum claim, even though over 90% are ultimately denied, and they have to release them inside our border if there is no more room to detain them.

It was a sincere question. It doesn't appear to be a very good solution...who's idea was it to release them in the US? It would appear, with this policy, that illegals simply need to overwhelm the system knowing that they will reach their objective in short order.

I am all for changing the law so we can do that and not just back to Mexico back to their home country, no claims of asylum and you get to stay just because your little toe touched American soil. The law requires it, "catch and release" and the Democrats are not about to change it even though it has presented an emergency situation now.

 

In Feb 2017, Trump issued an executive order to end 'catch and release' through Kelly. Why, when it was an important part of his campaign, did he not completely abolish it when he had the house and congress?
