In this case GOD would be defined as advertised by the ancient Religious Text specific to the Bible, Koran, Tanakh and Torah.

I understand that GOD if it exists might be something completely different that what anyone has ever thought it would or could be.....and I am kind of hoping for that.

    Reason?

Because I would NEVER want to be associated with the arrogant, vile and vicious GOD advertised in those Monotheistic books.

    Nice post from you...thanks.

Your proof is for you to find. An anonymous poster on a message is most likely NOT going to provide you with evidence YOU will accept. It must be at least intriguing to you that many of histories greatest thinkers believed in a God. Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, Frances Collins (modern), Darwin wrote about God in his Origin of Species... to name a few. But you are probably much more learned than any of them.

    Their 'evidence' is:

    feeling funny inside sometimes

no jury could ignore that :)

It's not even mildly interesting, given everyone on the planet was religious up until very very recently. How is it that this didn't occur to you in time to prevent you posting such a thing? What you've said is the equivalent of saying we ought to be intrigued by the fact that some smart people breathed.

I am a Christian. Evidence would destroy my faith.

Well actually most of us are more "learned" than those you cite above, thats the wonderful thing about scientific knowledge it is a huge well that almost anyone can draw from or contribute too. I do not have to be a genius to understand "every action has a reaction" because a genius has already done the hard work for me. What is more every bit of science is constantly under review by other geniuses and sometimes improved or even discarded. This to me is the big difference between science and religion, a religion is nearly always tied to the knowledge available at the time of its creation. Hence the Bible might of been cutting edge knowledge 2000 years ago but much of its its knowledge and even moral thinking is hopelessly outdated now. The question is would any of the great thinkers of history have believed in a God given the knowledge and evidence available to them now? As for evidence of god I shall be very interested if anyone can provide any with the knowledge available now.

Well personally I prayed for a resounding defeat of the Dem Party leadership in this past mid term elections cycle and my prayers were answered! Meh . . . on the other hand I also prayed for Hillary to defeat Barack Obama in the 2008 Dem Party primaries and so I consider that particular proof-set to be contradictory in nature. Still that's a whole lot of praying from an avowed atheist, and so that's gotta be significant all on its own, right?

Or they were just pretending to be religeous to avoid persecution. The actions of humanity are clear evidence to me that most humans don't take their religion seriously either now or in the past.

The trouble with that is, confidence men use the same paradigm to cheat their marks out of money. So, its used by criminals and Christianity. My brother used it once to step out on his wife, for each time she got suspicious, he told her how important it was to have faith in a relationship. She finally gave up on the faith when she caught him, saw the evidence. But religious people have a much harder time seeing through the faith. For no evidence would ever cause them to drop the faith.

Statistically speaking "everyone" still is religious. Every question you have posed internally has been posed aloud before, by an ancient Greek philosopher most likely. Every question I've read in this forum has been posed by modern Christians. How do you blind yourself from these facts?

I think you and I feel that such a god as most people believe in is utter nonsense. It actually insults any god that might exist that could actually create something as vast as this universe and the abundance of life that is on earth, perhaps in other places across this universe too.

I sure don't know if god exists or does not exist, but I am certain that these gods people believe in, the anthropomorphic images, do not exist. They are too human-like, in pettiness, jealousness, anger, vengeance.

I figure it like this. If some god wants something from me, he can damn well come down personally, and tell me what he wants. And he must make it certain that I was not suffering from a delusion, as the human brain can be tricked. For if he is silly enough to leave it up to a book written by tribalistic humans thousands of years ago, to inform us of his existence, he isn't serious about us knowing about him. For there are various books that talk about god, and who can tell which was is true? LOL. It depends upon whatever culture you were born into as to which one you think is true.

If I were gonna manufacture a god to believe in, to hope to be with after death, I would create on that was the sexiest, most beautiful female in the universe, with super sexual powers, and who really wanted to love me up for all of eternity. To give me ecstasy and bliss forever and ever and ever. I don't much care about the idea of being on my knees at the feet of jesus, for I am not a homosexual, and might feel a bit weird about his love for me.

With adequate evidence God is just another fact, it would no longer require faith to beleive. Religion would indeed be science. I have never understood why we Christians seek physical evidence.

C'mon Alpha....you know damn well there can be no evidence for something that cannot be in any way observed outside the human mind. There is also the problem of having so freakin' many of these invisible God thingys out there you would first need to pick one out, and only then stare out into nothingness long enough for it to show up, which would be forever.

Might as well ask for proof that unicorns breed with mermaids to make seahorses.

Seems to me science has more theories then facts in the first place, so I find it difficult to understand why another persons theories[as they see them] would seem so out of place. We are told science theories are backed up with scientific facts, until of course they are proven all wrong in the first place, then it's called a singularity.

Well maybe that's the answer, God is the ultimate singularity......

To me, when we have the answers to everything then we can exclude the impossible. That's the way I see it, I am no Bible thumper and have my own idea's about life, but I exclude nothing, and respect everybody and the right to believe as they will.

What modern scientific discovery would suggest God does not exist?

The same that suggests Sasquatch doesn't exist. I'm new to this forum, but I'm curious - are requests to 'prove a negative' the standard here.

Actually with all this recent talk [in the scientific community] about Parallel Universes they may be adding proof, or at least more theory. I hear there could be another six of me running around, who's idea was that? Yet one Creator is just one too many?

[Another six Mods, just what we needed.....LOL]

Just to be clear, both Darwin and Einstein were both self proclaimed agnostics. Therefore, it cannot be said that they believed in God.

The OP has been quite specific in his definition of God, and the idea of parallel universes would not support the idea for a Judeo/Christian/Muslim God at all. Whether there is some kind of God/Creator/entity right back at the beginning(if indeed it did begin!) of the Universe is something I do not think we have or may ever have enough knowledge to base a belief on!.

But the question was can anybody provide ANY evidence for the existence of God as defined by the OP, I await such evidence with interest.

It is not my place to try and convince the OP of my faith.

I do have a question of a curious nature; for those who choose not to believe, have you ever once in your entire life uttered "thank God"

The thread is about evidence god does exist, if you want to start a thread about evidence why the god as described by the OP does not exist I will happily join it. But I think we should stick to the topic of this thread.

But also, if god is immeasurable, and exists outside of time space, matter, the brain which is in time, and of matter, could never logically know of it. The awake state of the brain can never actually know the sleep state. And both of these things are in time, so much more impossible for the measurable to know the immeasurable.

I think it is past high time for us just to be honest and admit we simply do not know the answer to this very old question. Then we could go to work and use our energy to improve that of which we do and can know about. Our life here, its quality, upon this earth. I think living for a pie in the sky when you die tends to take us away from very important matters that we all have to live in. Let's work to change the world, to make it better, and then our kids will benefit from that energy. Otherwise we only are self interested in what happens to our egos once the body dies. And waste so much time and energy that could be better used helping out humanity.
