Where I disagree with you is that this reflects poorly on what the establishment is pretending to be. I think that the exact response we should have to realizing that the mainstream culture doesn't care at all about the struggles of the people it claims it adores after those groups fought for their own rights without any help from the elites is to gain an even deeper dedication to understanding the marginalized perspectives in our society so that we can all truly understand how our fights for our rights are linked and come together in solidarity.

Are there not colleges that have a very high (relatively speaking) amount of students that are LGBT? Like not necessarily IN the gay community, but with LGBT students in much higher numbers than other schools? That's what I figured he meant.

Feel free to believe him, I don’t. Hey I lived in Greenwich Village for many years where there is a large gay community and I don’t recall straight men being bombarded.

 

I agree with what you're saying, don't get me wrong. I'm sure there is some exaggeration to his claims, but I don't find them completely unbelievable. A former straight coworker of mine was asked out on a date by a gay customer. So even if it's rare, it does happen. But I see your point overall, for sure.

 

Of course it happens....I’m a straight woman and had loads of men hit on me...but it is the reason for his exaggeration.. does it make it right for me to justify disliking men?
