Well, it's probably pretty close to the truth, so Christ would not hang on the cross after sundown. They would have to have beaten him to a pulp, nearly killing him before he was nailed through his bones to hold him there. Crucifixion was meant to be a lingering death. Some would hang for a few days, wailing in pain and torment while they begged for death.

Each sin adds another stripe to HIs back, legs or arms. Each sin puts more weight on his body to hold up. Each sin adds to the suffering he and his mother must endure. A "sword" pierced her heart, as you may imagine seeing your loving innocent son suffer in such a way for others, all the while having the power to stop it or end it on His own, but choosing to suffer our punishment so we might have a chance to get to heaven.

I can see how knowing that in your heart would cause such anger and resentment. Even if you say you do not believe, the proof is there for all to see in the most ardent accusers. They probably noticed, even way back then, that homos spread diseases a lot worse than heteros. Also, heteros produce children which is pretty damn important if you want to survive as a tribe or a nation.
