China controls too much of the vital goods that we depend on. Of course they are going to be pissed when we try to take back some control manufacturing of those goods. He also is trying to stop the theft of millions of US patents. I guess Trump shouldn't do that either because some people are fans of China and it might piss the Chinese off. They have been screwing us for decades and nobody has done anything about it.

You're right, but I hope the people who have the power to change this situation are part of the former and not the latter.

I am not letting myself getting lectured by Trump fans, who just a few days ago pretended like this is a crisis made up by media to hurt Trump. My position on this has been very consistent, as can be seen from by posts in the last weeks. Now Trump is finally declaring national emergency, which means that the Trump fan posturing of the last two weeks of "nothing to see her" was all BS.

I have admitted in my last post that I used poor choice of words. What else do you want? If you want to lecture people then look at your own posts first. Trump fans have done nothing but deflect from this crisis for weeks, pretending that life should go on as normal. In the meantime, the virus happily propagated. Now, tell me, who should apologize for the posts that are clearly endangering people by downplaying the risk?

Finally, show me my "troll" posts, I'd be happy to see citations.

So Democrats should be happy that Trump's taking the actions they want him to take right? Even though our situation pails in comparison to Italy, the EU bloc, etc we're taking the extraordinary steps of those countries.

Just stop making **** up. That is part of the issue that trump brings up in his dispute with China. If he tries to work for the US against China the left bitches. If he doesn't the left bitches. You post demonstrates this and the willingness of the left to make **** up while not knowing a thing about the subject.

How 5G got tied up in a trade war between Trump and China
President Trump’s ban of Huawei and the ongoing trade war with China could have big implications for the future of 5G.

"What do 5G and the Chinese telecom-gear maker Huawei have to do with the escalating trade war between the US and China? In a word: everything. 5G, the next generation of wireless, will not only allow you to download an entire season of Stranger Things in minutes, but also serve as the foundation to support the next generation of infrastructure, including billions of internet-connected devices powering smart cities, cool new VR and AR applications and driverless cars.
Naturally, President Donald Trump wants the US to lead in 5G. "

Trump official compares Huawei to ‘the Mafia’ as White House works on 5G battle plan
WASHINGTON — The White House ratcheted up its war of words against Huawei on Tuesday, as a senior administration official denounced the Chinese telecom as “the Mafia” and suggested it could spy on the British Parliament.

In comments to CNBC, the official denounced Huawei as an “utterly nonmarket player” that wants to wipe out competition through dumping, theft and racketeering.

Yes, declaring national emergency is the correct decision. And I am not saying this as a Democrat (I am German and can't vote here), but as a concerned citizen, who has family members at home who fall into the high risk category.

I'm not lecturing you so drop the victim tone. Here is just one example. China controlled the majority of the steel manufacturing in the world. They control a huge chunk of the capacity to manufacture drugs. Trump is trying to reduce that leverage and all the left can do is cheer China on by bitching that China might get mad. Of course they will get mad. They don't want to lose leverage. The very subject of this thread is about China and their manufacturing control and how they will use it to leverage the US. We need to wake up and bring some of this back to our country rather than outsource it to China.

An American-German here(American born, German ancestry) and I've always found it cool to meet fellow peeps with German ancestry. I hope the best for you and your family and for all Americans. I sincerely do. I hope the best for mine as well. Literally, that seems to be the best thing we citizens can do.

I'm German born but my American wife wanted to live in the US rather than Germany. That's how I ended up here, now with two American/German dual citizen kids and and my American inlaws living in the same house.

Why would you mention that. Do you always bring up your sister out of the blue?

Typical day: "Good morning. I don't like my sister and she's German"?

It's unfortunate you feel "lectured", but you chose a poor position on this topic, and folks here have actually made really good arguments against your position.

As is typical with extreme partisans like yourself, you want to see everything as black and white, and you're blind to the shades of grey, and that's usually where you'll find the truth ---- in the shades of grey. The reality of the coronavirus, for example, falls inbetween the left's hype that "we're all gonna die!!!!!" and your claims that the right wants to ignore it entirely

You're also conveniently ignoring the thread topic altogether now, which is that China has too much control over some vital supplies. This problem didn't start with Trump, but he has been the one with the balls to try to remedy it ---- were/are you supporting his efforts? Do you think we should be so reliant on China? Did you just want to continue with the status quo because God forbid we upset China? Because that's what it sounds like you're saying, so I'm not surprised at all you're getting so much pushback here.
