China is able to put 14 bullet trains into operation quickly, with own designs, why not US?

They you will be able to tell us why those plants were cancelled and also that local Chinese gov officials may not actually terminate construction on those plants which have been under construction for many years. Apparently the directive by the Chinese Energy Administration is not binding.

Doesn't sound like it is from the link I provided. China will never implement energy policies which will reduce their economic growth. They have 1 billion people living on $2K per year or less.

    What is that website?

Oddly enough, China’s recent strides to curtail fossil fuel dependence also make it the world’s largest investor in non-carbon-emitting energy sources like solar, wind, and nuclear energy, according to the IEA. But China's renewable investments have run aground on their share of problems, too—The New York Times reported that a handful of China’s largest wind plants are sitting idle due to transmission capacity issues, economic slowdown, and local officials favoring the coal industry in some regions.

China’s rapid investment in energy projects of all kinds doesn’t seem to be slowing down. At the beginning of this month, the country announced that it would spend more than $360 billion on renewable energy through 2020.

In an article published this week, the IEA wrote that China’s existing coal-powered plants represent almost 50 percent of the world’s coal electricity-related emissions, and the country’s plants are some of the youngest in the world—meaning they could keep running for several more decades before being retired. The IEA suggested that China had a “significant opportunity” to retrofit up to 310GW of its existing capacity with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology to reduce the amount of CO2 that’s being vented into the air.

Correction: This article has been corrected to distinguish GW of capacity from GWh of energy generation.

No we can do anything, the problem is liberals want us to foot the bill 100% why they go along for the free ride.

Liberals are like being married what's mine is hers , what hers is hers .

Dude, I have an electric bike that assists me in pedaling at 25mph, 80 miles, with the aux batt I can go 120. It charges in 4.5 hours.

I have a skateboard, that goes 22mph. Has brakes and will go many miles. Electric is the future.

Hell, I just got a MAGLEV case fan to replace the water cooling fan, it is almost silent.

I just seen this news article..

After 250 years, Germany finally sees a bison. It's immediately killed
    By Linda Hervieux, Newsweek

Conservationists are expressing outrage after an official in Germany ordered hunters to shoot the first wild bison seen in the country in more than two centuries. Calling the killing a criminal offense, the World Wildlife Fund says it will file charges against the official who gave the order, the Local reports.

After more than 250 years a wild bison had been spotted again in Germany and all the authorities could think to do is shoot it," says Chris Heinrich, a WWF board member. The bison was seen by the river Oder near the eastern town of Lebus on Wednesday. Thinking the beast was a threat to public safety, a local official sent a pair of hunters to take care of it. It was unclear if any of them knew the European bison is classed as a "vulnerable" species and on Germany’s list of "strongly protected animals." The victim was likely a bull that had wandered across the border from Poland from its home in a national park. While they may be the continent's largest land mammals, weighing up to 2,200 pounds, the bison are not considered dangerous

There is slight difference in texture of a slug and a buffalo, granted snails have their place at the gourmet but for the money I'd go with the 2K,1/4 ton of Buffalo and the experience of event. Far more rewarding then hot pockets from the Alpha beta and posting on a forum year after year month after month :)

I guarantee I've spent far more time riding eurorail than you have. Urban rail is far different than high speed long distance rail. I support better local rail service investments.

Here in my building, I have chatted on such topics with real living Chinese born and raised in the Communist China system.

Their take is that it is extremely easy in China since China retains ownership of the land. America is partners with citizens. China wants a high speed rail and they decree it shall be built and no domain issues stop or slow it. No fear over such things as the many dozens of agencies all with power to block things. No such thing as the dreaded embarrassment known as the environmental impact report that consumes millions of dollars and years of time.

Brown is nuts. Brown is nuts to think we need such a rail system. We have in place many airports. I am not speaking of only major airports but some with a bit of tinkering can handle big jets. We will not find the airline firms expanding airports. They would get embroiled in the problems that China simply does not have.

Let's have the UBER of aircraft. Let's see what can be done were private pilots not banned by law from carrying paying passengers.

So, has China cured using coal? No, they gave a huge number to construct yet by saying now we cut back, get credit for lower emissions. This trick works best for China since they control what is allowed out of their country. To show how it works, they say we will build 1000 coal plants. But later they revise it down to 800. They planned all along to build but 600 so in effect they got a net gain by lying about how many were in the works. It seems they cut back but they have 800 more under construction. Who got fooled by that trick?

China has several multiples of our population. Naturally they can cull their herds and direct them to things most profitable to China. We have no such system.

To give an illustration ... James is my grandson by my oldest daughter I donated sperm to her mom. I have one older girl as a daughter but her dad did not care and I did. James was committed to being an engineer specializing in space. But today he is in the university studying computer engineering. We always saw him with a role in space. Maybe he still will. But this government did not direct him nor did his parents.

It has been dangerous to ride BART for some time. First BART installed fake cameras. When that failed, they told us now they are actually real. Now they claim they are hiring more cops.

Question for me is this. Why does BART need more cops? What is there about Oakland that is vastly different from San Francisco, Concord or Walnut Creek or Livermore or Fremont and Warm Springs? Do the crooks stay in Oakland to rob or move to my city? I think they stay living in Oakland. They can't afford my city.

Yeah you couldn't pay me any amount of money to ride on BART, especially when they go out of their way to protect the robbers and disarm the riders.

In fact, I'll never step foot in god forsaken Californistan again.

It's funny when critics of trumps wall immediately bring up land grabs when it comes to it, you have not seen anything if we went to high speed rail and try to bring them into the downtown areas ..

Elitists want to live far away from the urban nightmare they've created. High speed rail isn't going to serve the masses. Elitists will spoil rural America with McMansions in gated communities.

I made far more money building BART than I spent on BART rides. I may have ridden it since 1972 all of a dozen times.

The most they can do is pay a portion towards the costs of flying the airplane. But we can't charge them fares for profit.

The super trains are for the Rich. When they want there fast, they use their own jets.
