Hopefully the pregnant, Chinese women who pay large sums of money to be airdropped into America so their babies will be Americans will get the message. It might even neutralize the hoards of elderly Asians who come here and use social services (especially Medicaid, and government housing) . Fingers crossed.

The problem is that this WILL create some sort of global re-alignment, you may not be as happy with everything ones the peices fall where they may.

US is one of the most self sufficient countries on Earth, but screwing over the way the world is set up around America would be a risky maneuver. For the Chinese, they would just lose a few million poor people and blame it on the US, might even look like the good guy depending on how it goes.

Make no mistake, this is not a "great" thing that Trump is doing. It might work out that way, but these strong arm tactics are a lot less terrifying to use when you are not talking about the future of a nation instead of a giant business deal.

There is no winner in a trade war ... the US can not win a Trade war against the world. Not to worry though. This trade war - if it is maintained - will ensure Trump will lose the next election.

 

Oh boy! If the poor thought they were bad off before, wait until they have to pay a half a weeks wage for an overcoat. There was a time you know. The problem is that with China's cheap labor, we became accustomed to our cheap goods, and it's going to be hard to adapt.

Anyway things do not look good. China will probably drop more Treasury bonds, and continue the war against the dollar together with Russia and a few other countries. As long as Xi knows he has full access to Russia's resources, he feels secure - and especially now that the gas pipe lines have been completed.

 

I have a hotel. It is not uncommon to find a room booked for two Chinese people to be occupied by 5 or more tourists, their friends being sneaked it during the day. They don't seem to think they are doing anything wrong. We also provide buffet and cooked breakfast. They think nothing of bringing bags into the breakfast room and filling them with enough food to last the day for them and their friends. We welcome them as guests but don't really appreciated them from the business aspect. Obviously, other nationalities do the same, but it is so much more common for those from China.

 

I don't recall the US putting 200 billion tariff thing. Trump only twittered he might as far as I know.

The problem with China's cheap labor is.....they then produce cheap stuff. Which then one has to go out and buy American to get the job done. So we can avoid having to pay twice, Right?
