The socialist left is pushing a carbon tax in France and around the world.

 

The countries in question. I thought it was obvious. And yes, I have lived in such nation. Personally I am not a big fan of such system, but I know they would not trade it for what we have, which is sky-high health care and higher education.

People are fed up with being sold out to the self interests of the elites. Who will save capitalism this time? From the excesses of a few? Someone better.

 

Bitching about rising sales tax on fuel is a far cry from protesting socialism in general. Also - you are trying to apply a US political perspective to Europe where it does not apply. The right and left are not divided over climate change in Europe like here in the US.

 

You said "they" provide healthcare and social programs. They the country have no resources other than those they take from others so who are they?

 

So IYO it's socialist in France that started rioting over the carbon tax? If so that bodes well for the dissolution of the Paris Accord.

You will never accept it's the people taking action on their own. Is Putin controlling Italy, Netherlands and all those anti-migrant people too? The people are the nation. You didn't know? You know like in "we the people". There is no such thing as a country without people. The have agreed to support a system where they pay higher taxes in order to get those services. We have agreed to pay $1000 a month and get the services after the deductible is satisfied.

 

1) there are no true "Socialists" in France - people who want the Gov't to control all resources and means of production.
2) by your definition of Socialist - most everyone in France is Socialist including those protesting the Carbon tax.

Since you did not get it the first time ... you are trying to apply a US political perspective on climate change to France - where it does not apply.

 

They figure if it can work for Democrats here, it can work for them too. Of course, they wont focus on the Activists to much. Just how the Russians played off of them.

 

Only a socialist mentality would think what I posted was nothing. On the other hand, any intelligent mind would LOL at your assertion that capitalism is part of a social democracy. Ask Milton Freidman, or Von Mises, or Jean-Baptiste Say, or any 1st-year econ student: Capitalism and central planning are as hostile to each other as a virgin and a rapist.

 

So everyone in those countries pays an equal amount to support the social welfare system? Nobody gets a free ride? Everybody just gets back what they pay out minus government administrative cost? That doesn't sound efficient.

 

The only truth of the matter: The common man is pissed because the central planners failed to deliver on their promises. And why couldn't the central planners deliver? Because you can get diamonds from pig droppings.

That's the point I've been trying to make but you said it more concisely.

 

Everyone pays a percentage, and large part comes from VAT, so even criminals pay into it. Like I said, that is the system they wanted, and apparently the service is high quality. You and I not agreeing with it means nothing. They do NOT want our type of system. We need to do something about our own system rather than complaining about other peoples systems. They got what they want, and we are getting the shaft. I pay sky high premiums, and just got denied an apnea sleep study which my doctor recommended.

Or maybe you missed the fact I was referring to insurance premiums, not taxes. I pay a very large premium, and hardly ever need medical services, but it is what I have agreed to do.

What's silliness is trying to obfuscate from the fact that this socialism lite isn't working in countries socialist in this country hold up as shining examples of socialism working.

 

They are not rioting to abolish their health care or education system. Why does everything have to be repeated to you?
