I'm fiscally conservative. I'm not a fan of huge government spending and I almost never ever approve of the myriad of crap they sneak into these bills while everyone is distracted at the idea of $600 and another unemployment bonus. But having said that, it is absolutely laughable to see leftwingers complaining about "how much Republicans are spending" when their own proposal was for infinitely more and even more pork and waste. So just stop already with that hypocrisy and stupidity, only an idiot would fall for it.

And the White House countered with an offer that fancy Nancy said was not acceptable:
    • State and local governments — $300 billion
    • Unemployment insurance — $400 per week, through the third week of January and retroactive to Sept. 12
    • Liability protection for businesses
    • Stimulus checks — $1,200 for adults, $1,000 per child
    • Airlines — $20 billion
    • PPP loans — $330 billion
    • Minority lending — $10 billion
    • Testing, tracing, vaccines, and health-care providers — $175 billion
    • Education — $150 billion
    • Student loan forgiveness — $25 billion
    • Food assistance — $15 billion
    • Child care — $25 billion
    • Postal service — $10 billion
    • Employee retention tax credit — $91 billion
    • Lodging industry — $20 billion
    • Broadband — $15 billion
And now they got half what the White House offered and she is okay with that? Way to go Nancy!

they will still get more for the people, republicans really want that liability avoidance, so they have to trade it for more for the people and small businesses in the next stimulus

How could Trump signs a bill that gives triple the aid to illegal aliens than actual Americans? The only this bill stimulates is more illegal immigration. Break American law and our government rewards you a $1800 check.

State gov't have a huge bill from Covid. They had to purchase all the PPE, Who's picking up the tabs for the extra healthcare costs?
But most of the money was not to bail out states. I don't have the breakdown, but much of it was as is now.

The legislation includes money for restaurants, airlines, child care centers and performance venues hit hard by the pandemic as well as funding for the postal service, which Democrats have said is needed before Election Day. The new bill would include another round of direct checks to Americans, at $1,200 per taxpayer and $500 per dependent. And it would renew the $600 in supplemental unemployment aid that expired in July, according to the text.

The package would also extend the Paycheck Protection Program, which expired on Aug. 8, leaving more than $130 billion in funding unused.

Democrats also included $436 billion for state and local governments, as well as a 15% increase in food-stamp benefits, both of which have met resistance from Republicans.

This deal is ass. How is it that a $600 stimulus check is "significant" per Pelosi, but a $1,600 Tax Break is not?

The crap they wrote into this heap of garbage is awful. I hope Trump Vetoes it.

They gave the people and Small Businesses crumbs, while the shove shitty crap down the nation's collective throat.

    trump lost the election.
There's no amount of money that can be put on that win for the country.

For another $400B, trump could have won the election.

Yep, Proves my point that trump didn't put out a plan at $2.2T and none of those is anywhere the $3-4T that other poster was laying claim. Which was what my response was about.

    Thanks for the additional proof.

So, you're fine with republican spending, as long as it's not for the amount democrats were asking for.
    Isn't that also hypocrisy?

Either you're for wasteful spending or against it. Not ok with it as long as it's not the dems getting their full asking price.

Tulsi Gabbard is way right about this. They had to pass it to find out what was in it and I don't like it.

Bi-partizan??? As Pelosi readily admitted the reason she could suddenly switch to support the new stimulus package was that we had a new president.

Look it up. You are slow Dairyair, but you're worth waiting on. Tulsi voted against it and with good reason.

Why are you claiming we will need a next stimulus, unemployment is WAY down and decreasing and we have the vaccines now. And do you really believe that anyone who gets COVID should be able to sue their employer? Can a customer sue a store because they came down with COVID after a visit? Yea let's make the lawyers richer.

Pelosi dismissed the Republicans offers out of hand and refused to negotiate them until there was a new President. She admitted it. She preferred letting people and business suffer because Trump was President.

When was the last time? Well it was the last time Democrats kowtowed to every Republican demand in an effort to minimize the damage they are willing to do to the country and its citizens to get their way. Same as the time before that.

What a great idea! Inject trillions into an economy that will have trillions less in tax revenue. What could go wrong??
