This has nothing to do with the "metaphysical" stuff. It has to do with being aware of what most people can't see at all. People are always telling you who they are, even when they are lying or actually believe what they are saying, and they always resent it when someone can read that, and come up with a myriad of reasons why it's not true.
As I mentioned- people fight to hang on to the very beliefs that limit them. One of the typical ways is to deny that any one else might know something they do not; because that way- they don't have to find an excuse for not trying. Wealth is an accident, those who can't manage their lives are just victims- it goes on and on..... and never changes their lives.
All you have really done here is to demonstrate and confirm what I said. Unfortunate for you.

 

I'm always forgetting who I'm talking to. I don't mean that self-help is metaphysical, I mean that like psychics, all self-help gurus are swindling people. Also like psychics, there are lots of self help-gurus who actually believe their own nonsense, and don't even realize they are swindlers. But, in general, you are telling me that you made up a bunch of bs based on nothing and now are basing your life around it. In general though, what I'm hearing from you is that you never once question yourself. You start with the assumption that you are right about whatever you want o believe and justify everything else from there. Tell me where I am wrong.

 

You are wrong. self-help is like everything else- there will always be people who take advantage of a market to sell hogwash. They do this because so many people will pay them to be told what they want to hear- the promise of finding themselves, liking themselves. However, the classes I taught for individuals were free- so I'm not guilty of selling anything, let alone hogwash. I did charge for commercials clients, and among others, I did a class for about 200 management personnel for Boeing. Those fees paid the bills for the free classes. The most difficult part of teaching what is real is that just like you, people expect you to tear down their castle of self-defeat and prove to them that they really are capable of something more. In other words- the defense of their condition comes from themselves, like they loved being miserable.

I questioned and searched and pursued what I have taught for 20 years without success. I mean intensely- not casually or once in a while; I mean laid awake nights with a pen and tablet beside the bed to write down every insight that I discovered. And it's not based on nothing, it's based on the most successful examples of life and societies in the world- which of course, aren't humans, but those in nature. Put yourself in a clean, human-free natural environment full of life, then just sit still- observe, watch and think. Where can you find that? Best place I know is a pristine coral reef. Being a dive instructor for many years, I've spent a lot of time there. IF you are watching, thinking, and open minded, you will see something amazing; far more important than pretty fish.

Everything is alive- things that look like plants are living animals. Everything is working, thriving. The things that live here are not destroying or trashing or poisoning their world- and here is a harmony in that place comparable to what might be produced by a fine orchestra, except the music doesn't end. There are no lawyers, no preachers, no government, no schools, no doctors, no police, no rule books- and yet, everything works. More than that; it works magnificently. IF you are able to see this, and able to question the crap that has been stuffed into your mind since you were a child and actually think- a question will strike you, over and over.

What do they know that we don't know? What makes this world work with such harmony and balance when it has no self controls?
I brought groups of divers on tours to these places. But often, I would go away from the group to be alone with that magical world. I asked myself that question for about three years, hundreds, perhaps thousands of times. One day- in a matter of minutes, the question was answered. It took me a year to begin to realize how it could be integrated into my own life, and I had a little money set back- so I took a year off to think it out, put it all down on paper. Refine it. Make it prove itself. Be sure I hadn't missed anything of deluded myself. Go through my own thinking, use the knowledge to clear the trash out of my own mind. That is how I learned what I know and have used everyday for the last 40 years.

I had read a great many books from famous authors, heard many theories. Most have bits and pieces of what works, but they are all contaminated with what doesn't. If you were to look at a reef after people get too close to it, you would see the result of that proximity- and that contamination results in a dead reef. You have to revise your fundamental thinking, not just fragments of it for convenience. You have to have your basic thinking, your fundamentals, free of contamination and corruption or doubt. Few people have the courage to let go of what they use everyday to survive, and journey to a new place without dragging that baggage along. This is why, no matter how carefully you teach the lesson- few will be able to use it. People want the answers that will make them whole to fit neatly into what they already believe, in the place they are already at. That insures they will fail- and of course, look at the lesson they were supposed to learn from and say it doesn't work.... it's a swindle. So they lose.... because they expect the book or teacher to change them without inconvenience, instead telling them how to change themselves.

I'm still wrong about many things, and I still live in the midst of a very defective and struggling world- a sort of soup contaminated with illusions and a great many frauds; some are small, some are massive. But I live by the same three principles that the inhabitants of those reefs and all successful elements of nature live by- and those, I do not question. Mother nature made the rules. Nothing we construct as humans have any influence at all on them, and those rules work everywhere, everyday, every time. They don't tell you who you must be, what you must do- but they do tell you how to use your own capacity to make the most of yourself and your life. They do tell you how to see what is real and what is false with amazing frequency- and most of all, they tell you how to find and identify yourself, and how to make that person one you can respect and admire. I don't think you have any idea how incredibly valuable that is.

My motivation was to give this to anybody who could use it... sadly, most are like you; it doesn't fit with what they already think they know, and it's of no value to them. That is the sad part of having this knowledge- you know that this small difference changes everything and can work for anyone- yet people want answers that improve life without them having to change themselves, and can't accept it.

I've just told you- where you are wrong. I don't expect you to believe it, but everything I said here is true.
