And as if the above weren't dire enough, I read this morning that it's costing us £25m (and it's probably nearer £50m) to clear Iraq of mines. So we have our infrastructure collapsing about our ears, nurses queuing up at food banks, closure of care homes for the sick and elderly etc etc but we're still acting like a preposterous Lady Bountiful to other countries. Why the **** can't the Iraqis clear the mines ffs, it's their bloody country. The insanity continues!
