Then tell me why there are so many more gun deaths in the US than more civilized countries that have guns control.

"Creating more gun laws is irrational unless the society wants to do something to control shooters."

    Which it does.
For example. Stop them shooting children.

I'm sorry you don't like clear and accurate characterization of your statement - bu tit was indeed clear and accurate.

For instance, your statement could legitimately be read to say rational, reasoned people support shall-issue CCW permits, as such permits are gun control. Is that what you meant?

Culture, having relatives in both the US and England as well naturally Australia, I have spent a lot of time there. I have also a few expat American friends and with every one you can see a fairly dramatic cultural difference. Of course there are many shades. My cousins all are anti-gun and most of the families they married into are too. My brother in law however is a different kettle of fish. He moved there 20 years ago and now even Americans can't tell he's Aussie. He is also into the gun culture, and I have seen the difference in his whole attitude, so much different to the cousins. The English side however, except for their poor use of the English language, or funny way of talking at least are very similar to us culturally.

The different cultures lend to different attitudes, which is why gun control has worked in Australia and England but wouldn't work in the USA. If they do have gun control it will have to be watered down to meet their insecurities. Things are changing, just much too slow.

Don't give up hope sanity will prevail eventually.

They don't have a broken culture like we have. Most of the gun deaths in the U.S. are perpetrated by criminal gangs. Apparently Norway doesn't have them. We have gun controls. What we don't have is the absence of guns. What we do have is a broken culture. Gun legislation won't matter. Fixing the cause of shooters wanting to murder certainly can.

America has sod all gun controls.
Might be more accurate to describe them as lack of controls.

When your own family and children in schools are killed by guns, I would honestly be concerned for the mental health of those who say the answer is, "More guns will solve the problem".

What you think doesn't matter to me.

At the Las Vegas massacre, a guy was interviewed the day after, his wife had been shot and killed. He said he was more than ever for the right to bear arms and have more guns. I would be concerned for his mental state of mind.

It's this poor mentality for guns that's killing people. Obviously you will be blind to this.

Why does it matter? Because your affairs appears in our news; either something to do with Trump or another gun massacre/shooting.

Edit : You might think I'm giving you an opinion when actually I am telling you.

So how do you propose that one defends oneself when they live about 20 miles away from the closest LEO group, and some low life decides they want to try and have a good time?

That ain't brainwashing, that's understanding the need to have something that will equalize the fight.

Just out of curiosity, do you think by chance that the brainwashing goes the other way, so that people won't have a means of defense?

How have you currently defended yourself? What incidents and shoot outs have you had with them? What have the cops said?

If any single opinion here was mute it's closer to you than you think. It has been demonstrated that the anti- gun law contingent is nothing more than a bunch of testosterone addicted, arrogant (most claim to be God's gift to self defense) liars.

There is a distinct flavour of a total lack of truth, fairness or integrity.

Some here have said although not in these words, that the children from the massacres, and even their own children who are being slaughtered one per day on average because of gun owns ignorant stand on basic gun safety that even the military use.

There is only a small but vocal and heavily financed minority that have managed to keep their assault weapons with the financial backing of the powerful gun lobby who's only interest is money.

I have posted a dozen cases of accidental death of children by guns. When asked for cases showing definite provable cases of self defense saving lives they find it hard.

I think I have been shown one or two. With millions of good law abiding gun owners patrolling our streets they should be able to offer hundreds of example's per day.

I will tell you this much, if there was hard and fast evidence out there they would find it and these pages would be flooded with it. On the other hand, just google "Children accidentally shot" and you will get a list of all the children accidentally shot.

Like one publication I posted here said. If there was a significant number of successful self-defense cases, with over 300 million guns you would think there would be ten's of thousands.

If I wanted to, I could buy a Mexican Army version of an M-16 at my local flea market.... for between $250 and $350.

    Yes, they are illegal
Yes, they were carried into this country by cartel members who were guarding drug shipments.
Yes, they were obtained by Mexican Army deserters who walked away with them.

And yes, the cartel members also kill people with the drugs they import......

So the people who buy them are as bad as the criminals they buy them from. But it doesn't address the post.

Well you've tried buying more guns until you are blue in the face.
    Massacres have only gone up.

    Time to change your approach.
That way has been tried and found to be counter productive to the nations goals.

On forums on gun matters, when I ask -

"How have you currently defended yourself? What incidents and shoot outs have you had with them? What have the cops said?"

I receive silence off the poster that I asked. Then like above, someone sites a story, an incident and apparently, everyone wants to be armed to the teeth because you have to defend yourself.

If I looked in local newspapers throughout the UK, you will read a stabbing, hit by a baseball bat etc.. But do they happen to me, do I feel threatened, should I arm myself with knives, baseball bats and a brick? Should I carry my shotgun?

I think some of you guys are fighting imaginary little wars and scenarios in your heads where reality is very much different. It's like jetting off on holiday and due to rare plane crashes, you dress up in a survival suit and parachute so you're ready to bail out.

I have had incidents with mine.
But mostly I am armed with my best running legs and my utlimate fists of Jackie Chan.
At work I often carry a knife or a gun.

There is an element in this that acts as a deterrent.
    People behave themselves around me.

Well, you start by ditching the idea that without a gun you are defenceless

Remember anything can be an effective weapon in the right hands

Look at you, ignoring the information you asked for because it proves you wrong.
    Nice.
