You're confused. Does your answer: "did not happen" make sense as a reply to, "that would be the almighty FORCE of the United States of America!?"

Do you think that all NATO nations would go to war together? I'm only talking about the Western coalition/alliance.

Yes, we agree, but if the difference took the percentage to under the 2% NATO target, then don't you think NATO would say it?

Well I didn't say that it was a fact, but it's certainly common sense.

Oh, where I said: "The UK is invaded tomorrow?" So this whole time you were just making a joke, that when tomorrow came (the following day) you could say that it didn't happen?

Bingo. Actually at the point you wrote it I was interested in who you thought would invade, but by the time you answered me it was tomorrow and you had also answered other posters who asked similar questions.

Who might invade? A force more powerful than the UK and the other non-US Western Alliance/Coalition. The US would be required.

How do you not know that I'm talking about the future?

So you obviously know that I'm talking about the future and have nothing further to add. Finally!

People were saying Khan had not been invited to the banquet and I thought that could not be true but apparently it was. Even worse our Home Secretary, Sajid Javid was not invited. What do the two have in common? Obviously both are Muslims. Sajid Javid I think is currently in second place after Boris for PM so Trump may find himself having to deal with in the UK a Muslim PM who I have to imagine Trump's people said should not be invited to the banquet.

The point still stands. I could have said ANY time in the future.

Sure ... but you can also see a danger that may exist sometime in a few decades and where you do not even know who and how ... as somehow ridiculous as a reason. Because conversely ... who knows with whom the British will cuddle in the future? ;-)

Are you saying that this isn't a possibility?

If you can find out and not ... let's say "classified" and sonit impossible to determine exactly. Try to determine the pure maintenance costs for the US bases in Japan ... on the Internet. I can not get them out, although they should be publicly public for the Senate and Congress in the Pentagon budget!

No ... but is it impossible for aliens to attack Earth in 10 years?
You should focus on actual and more predictable scenarios in the future, not on any abstract things ... ;-)

Scenarios which would justify breaking up the US/UK relationship?

    I do not understand ...
All of NATO's allies have signed a treaty and that says in the so-called "alliance case" a clear scenario. If a member of NATO is attacked, then that member has the opportunity to trigger Article 5, and if the NATO Council agrees to it, then all have a duty to assist their ally.
This has happened only once, namely after 9/11 when the US triggered Article 5. All NATO members did their duty and, according to their possibilities, sent contingents to Afghanistan or otherwise helped the USA. There were clear requirements from the US, who should or should do what ...
Another case where the same predicament would have been possible was the Falklands War in 1982 when Argentina attacked the UK. UK has wanted to fight it out by itself, but could have triggered Article 5.

It all depends on the assessment of Article 5 ... because not all would be Article 5. Take as Syria ... where Turkey has illegally called a no-fly zone on the border deep into Syria and in that zone e.g. also actively makes air strikes on the Kurds. Suppose a Turkish F-16 is shot down by Russia ... sorry, that would not be article 5, not even a bit!

No matter what kind of alliance there should be, it would be structured similarly. It is also true that it would be questionable that a European NATO member would automatically be in the new alliance or want to be in it. Poland is one of the wacky candidates who, because of their schizophrenic fear of Russia, tend to want to continue to be allied with the USA!
