Biden didn’t follow that deal. But I won’t be negligent enough to say Trumps plan wouldn’t have had the same outcome. That said it’s a total cluster f*** none the less with either persons plans. I just don’t think the Afghan government would have fell apart as fast under trump but the end result would have been the same.

he had to deal with the mess Trump did with the deal, the 5000 Taliban prisoners were released under Trump's watch

Trump reduced the military days before Biden took office, Trump never tried to get the people out first

You can’t back it up, it’s ok we understand.

In fact, we expect it from MAGA types who keep repeating the Big Lie.

Going to war is easy. But there never is any real planning on when and how to get out if it is not won. We will see this with Ukraine as well. No one goes to war thinking they will lose.

Well, based on my knowledge of Trump, he fully expected to still be in office when that agreement expired. You don't have any basis to say what plans he had made to deal with it, if any. It would not surprise me to learn that if he had a plan, he took it with him and left the new guy to figure it all out. The new guy, and the experts in his charge, had PLENTY of time to orchestrate a much more graceful exit than what actually transpired. At the very least working to get the civilians out prior to completing the military withdrawal would seem a no-brainer.

It doesn't matter how they would react. Who's plucking this chicken; us or them? We were in charge of our operation, and we should have maintained that dominance and control until our people were safe, arbitrary deadlines be damned. To say that the President of the United States was somehow forced to make deadly poor decisions that got our people killed, because he was afraid to piss off the taliban, is some pathetically weak sauce.

The fact is, the Afghanistan withdrawal was a huge military failure that Biden was wholly responsible for and could have prevented, or at least mitigated. He chose not to, and is trying to blame his predecessor for the carnage.

Darrell Issa is the source and a State department document is the source material.

So Trump would have failed a little less hard? Either way, it was a losing proposition and I don't blame either of them for wanting to end it. I do fault them for how they went about it, considering that we basically cut and ran and didn't try to keep the democratic government alive once the decision was made. They must have known that it would collapse sooner or later under those terms.

It's true that Biden owns this fiasco since he was the guy in charge and the one who made the final call. I'm just not sure it's that significant in the grand scheme, because it was a failed venture if we were not prepared to keep dumping blood and treasure into it. I do wonder why both presidents were in such a hurry to end it when they did and with so little apparent regard for the consequences. I won't accept "dementia" as an explanation because Biden is clearly more mentally capable than that, given his record elsewhere so far.

I can't prove a negative. You're free to post what plan Trump had.

Total joke. Over a 120,000 people got evacuated, and it wasn't enough. Nothing suggests that you know what you're talking about.

The US wasn't in the lead. If they would, than they would not make a deal to run away. And the deal Trump made in Februari 2020 was a that the US and the Taliban would have a cease fire. It gave the Taliban 1,5 years to plan to march into Kabul. And behold, they did.

Is it a failure? There was just one bomb blast during all them months, killing some soldiers, while 120,000 people managed to leave.... while the anarchy hit 100%. And Biden aint responsible that the Afghans did not put up a fight.

So why flee a secure and defensible Bagram airport in the middle of the night without notification of the Afghan government and then conduct an evacuation from a non secure airport in Kabul getting US Marines killed? Care to opine on that Biden strategy?

Biden was in office for over seven months when US forces left Afghanistan.
Biden had OVER SEVEN MONTHS to remove/destroy/disable billions of dollars of military equipment that fell into Taliban hands - He failed
    Biden had OVER SEVEN MONTHS
to coordinate an organized withdrawal - He failed
    Biden had OVER SEVEN MONTHS
to ensure all American citizens and allies were evacuated - He failed

Americans and allies DIED DUE TO BIDEN'S FAILURE

Note: In WWII we went from peace to the massive, effective invasion of Guadalcanal in less than SEVEN MONTHS

Trump failed, he withdrew (days before passing the war on to Biden) and did not have a peaceful transfer of power.... do we really want such a petty little man like Trump, that cares more about revenge than he does about the lives of our military to ever be President again?

And Trump was responsible for the release of over 5000 Taliban prisoners.. Before getting the people out

I don't care what kind of BS sideshow anyone wants to make about Trump, Biden and his minions closed Bagram and pulled all the guys with guns out FIRST.

A 6 year old could probably tell you that's unbelievably stupid.

And no, Trump wasn't anywhere near the White House by then so you can spare me the sanctimonious BS that that was all Trump's fault.

    Biden's a senile moron.

The stuff was meant for the Afghan army. Not Biden's fault that Trump did not train them for it for the sake to put up a fights against the Taliban.

How? The world did not end when the Taliban took their country back. Them 100 people who also wanted to go back home, just took a plane a week later or something. Seriously lol.

Mostly the people failed themselves. They knew from February 2020 that they had to get out at May 2021. Because you know. I'm used to the idea that I pack my own bags when I leave. But them lot were just like deer looking at headlights.

Also, Trump did not do a thing for 10 months, and had no plan for the remaining 5. So some plan is still better than no plan.

just 13 soldiers died during the +120.000 evacuation due to 1 single incident. Whooptido.

Guadalcanal was 60K people going in, from ships where the discipline was in full control

Afghanistan was over 120K going out in a state of total anarchy because the Afghan government let it be like that.

    Yeah. Totally comparable.

    Didn't you hear Chris Christy?
    Nothing is Trump's fault.
Everything that goes wrong is somebody else's doing.
The deal that the US made with the Taliban in February 2020 was because of Biden's piss poor negotiating skills.

We all know nobody negotiates like Trump.;)
