Do you think immigration should be restricted based on ethnicity/race?

I think it should be restricted on the basis of national security only.

of course that's very important. But for me, there's yet another thing: I whish for racial demographic status quo. Now, this probably isn't such a big deal over in 'merica nor as justifiable as it is in europe. But ask yourself, if sweden was all black, would it be sweden anymore? My answer to that is no, it wouldn't. Sweden has always been white, and being a conservative, that's something I'd like it continue to be. Not because of any hatred against non whites, or any notion that they are inferior in anyway (although africans generally seem to have lower IQ I don't base any of these decisions on that) of course, but as said before, for preservation of the status quo. I see value in ethnic diversity, if it's confined to the land they're historically tied too.

The USA is a different case though. It's always been a nation of immigrants, and while white has been the dominant culture, there's always been more than one race present. Whites doesn't even have better claim than anyone else to america, except indians. So it's not comparable to europe.

Its always amazed me how insecure white people are. The seem to believe that their "white" culture is too fragile to withstand an influx of immigrants bringing different cultures and attitudes to their new homeland. They seem afraid of the falafel shop or the tandoori kitchen or the guys walking down the street in turbans or dreads.

Immigration should not be based on skin colour or culture, but on education, desire, ability to work and recognition/acceptance that the next generation will go thru the culturalization process by attending local schools and integrating with the surrounding community.

for instance, a second generation <insert ethnicity here> immigrant has an american accent and probably likes cheeseburgers, football and wheel of fortune.

Multiculturalism in Canada has broadened our perspectives, understanding and tolerance of the "different". It has enriched canadian culture by making it multi dimensional while still preserving the best cultural traits of canadians. We aren't afraid of it, we embrace it, because it makes us stronger.

I prefer cultures to evolve the way they've mostly evolved during history; that good ideas spread simply because they're good. you don't have to have a german nieghbor to listen to german classical music, nor a black rapper to listen to gangsta rap, no thai for thai food etc. Good ideas travel without people moving with them, and especially in these modern times in which communication is very easy. Also, when the ideas and things arrive in their new culture they should be 'converted' so it'll blend more. that'd be prefect.

Then there's an other type of culture, which aren't good or bad but simply flavour so to say. turbans fall into this category. I don't whish this type of culture to spread very much because I'd like cultures to maintain their differences.

and of course the bad parts that exist in nearly all cultures should just be gotten rid off no matter what. honor killings, witchburning etc.

And for me, it's not only about culture. Non white people not only have a different culture, but also; they're not white. Too many of them will make a given country less white, and i'd like a racial status quo.

I am from a racial cultural background we used to call WASP. My grandfather was a member of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920's. There were some bad attitudes in the home I grew up in. That changed as my parents were very influenced by Dr. King as was I. I say that some white Americans are terrified of becoming just another minority and being subject to the same kind of abuse they have been perpetrating on others for CENTURIES. Not gonna happen but that is exactly what they are afraid of.

I dont know abt Canada, + isolated / insular corners in North America , but here in UK + rest of western Europe, Chinese/Indian/Turkish/Greek/Thai, etc , cuisine has long ago been become well established and and enthuesically accepted .

Apart from the presence of every type of restuarants in most of our cities /towns/villages , - all supermarket shelves are filled with a variety of ready meals from all corners.

Multiculturalism produces gangbangers. That's not a good thing.
