Florida Approves Bill Allowing Classroom Teachers To Be Armed

WTF? It is part of the duty and function of law enforcement agencies to take preventative measure against certain criminal patterns; patrolling schools for the safety of students is one of them. It happens in most cities, and even in school districts which are nowhere near a city.

Except for the fact that such is simply not the case. Law enforcement exists for reactionary purposes, acting after the commission of a crime. It does not exist for preemptive purposes, to prevent crimes before they can be committed. Such is a basic element of united states law, as a side effect of the cornerstone of their legal system where one is innocent until proven guilty.

Even if the position on the part of yourself were factually correct, it would still make no difference to the current discussion about how to safeguard facilities of learning. Increased patrols do absolutely nothing to achieve such a goal. Increased patrols only present the illusion of safety, while being devoid of substance. It is nothing more than theatre, designed to trick the easily fooled into believing that something is being done, when in truth nothing at all is being done.

 

It is irrational for teachers to be armed during school hours of operation. Said teacher can do what he or she likes after those hours.

I answered in the manner I did because as usual for discourse on this site, one thing leads to another. Fear is a mind killer and causes irrational behaviors from some of the sufferers of said fear.

NOT TRUE AT ALL! I have proven my statement several times, which is why you (TOG 6) and others keep on this topic. It is one thing to want the safety of school children, and it is another to intentionally place those same children in jeopardy under the guise of their safety. Such twisted logic holds no water in a discussion about school safety.

 

I guess you don't live in Florida nor have the slightest understanding of our schools and how they are run otherwise you would never had posted such a ludicrous statement, I live here, have worked in law enforcement here, and my children have got school here and spent days working in those schools so I actually have a good idea of how they are run and secured. .

It would be comprised of local PD making a visit to schools as well as performing a walk through of school grounds without disrupting and disturbing daily school functions.

Really, what do you think the actual are of a patrol being in a school and able to respond when an active shooter event begins?

A million to one, maybe ten million to one?

Just by the odds, such an idea meets the requirements of, "it is one thing to want the safety of school children, and it is another to intentionally place those same children in jeopardy under the guise of their safety."

Doing something useless, which such a patrol is, intentionally places those same children in jeopardy, under the guise of their safety.

 

Such a person wouldn't make it pass the psychological test to begin with.
