I pity most the Ukrainian people, who are decent-folk and do not deserve what has happened. The indecency of the son of an American ex-VP is insulting. Especially in the present context when that individual is seeking the highest office in the land.

-That 2 weeks after daddy Biden was tasked with supervising Ukraine, his baby was out of the blue hired by Burisma and its oligarch owner?

-That baby Biden was paid whopping $88,000/month and he wasn't even in Ukraine and he did absolutely no work for the company?
-That daddy Biden is on record bragging that he squashed the investigation of the company and its oligarch owner that were throwing exorbitant amounts of money at baby Biden?

Please be specific, which of these statements have not been proven?

The problem is the apparent STOOPIDITY in believing there is a fundamental difference between unethical and illegal. And if anyone tries hard enough they can "take the money and run" and IT IS NOT ILLEGAL! Because nowhere is it written in law that it's illegal!

Let's take that notion before a court of law in the Ukraine, and see if the judge does not declare Biden was "pilfering state-funds". Shall we?

What I do know patently is that Illegal Behavior is most certainly unethical.

When unethical behaviour leads to a consequence deleterious to the other person, then yes it should become illegal. It depends upon what is written into law. (And if there nothing written into the law, that simply means that particular country has a reason for not doing so.)

I live in France. You'd be amazed what is illegal in this country (if you live presently in the US) ...

Hunter Biden worked at Burisma from 2014 to 2015 on its BoD. And he got paid $50K a month. Those are the factoids that are printed in reasonably good news outlets - if you go looking for them.

If not, then you make unfounded insinuations JUST LIKE YOURS ABOVE. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Oh, it stinks all right. If Hunter didn't have the last name "Biden", I'm sure he wouldn't have gotten the job. Occam's razor suggests this was a benign relationship. Hunter Biden's situation was well know, and the GOP has had control of the DOJ for three years now and would love nothing more than bringing down a high profile Democrat like Biden (or his kid). They would have pounced on anything, if there was anything there. But there was nothing. Hence, Rudy's illegal (desperate) fishing expedition to get something on Hunter.

The likely explanation is that Joe Biden needed to park his ne'er-do-well son somewhere, and this Ukranian company apparently thought it was work about $600K (small change in geopolitical terms) to have the son of the VP on the executive board. I don't blame them. In a corrupt country like Ukraine, it helps to have friends in high places.

From what I gather, the investigation wasn’t about Biden, it was about Burisma.
Shokin claims now he was investigating the company when he was fired.
And again, claiming that shokin was fired for not prosecuting anyone is stupid - he was on the job just 13 month, that’s not enough time to prosecute high profile case. To this day they still didn’t prosecute people who were shooting at protesters in 2014! It’s been 5 years!

 

If there was pay for play situation then Trump and his son should definitely be investigated and prosecuted.

 

He has just resigned, and I assume he's $50k poorer on the month from now on.

They'll have to be very careful and secretive about the swamp getting him another gig.
