    ½mv² versus mc²

De Pretto used the expression mv^2 for the "vis viva" and the energy store within matter, where he identified v with the speed of light. His formula is apparently in agreement with Albert Einstein's formula E=mc^2 for mass-energy equivalence, which was derived by Einstein as a consequence of special relativity.

However, Umberto Bartocci (professor of mathematics and a critic of relativity theory) speculated about a possible influence of De Pretto on Einstein. On the other hand, Ignazio Marchioro argued that there is no connection, since the theory of De Pretto was based on the aether (a superseded theory not present in special relativity), and also that De Pretto's formula is only a variation of the kinetic energy formula. While Bartocci agrees that De Pretto's theory is not connected with relativity, he is still of the opinion that his thoughts on the energy reservoir within matter could have influenced Einstein.

Wikipedia is owned by Jews and not reliable. "The ether" is irrelevant.

    Poincare, 1889.

If he links to a Wikipedia article as his source, the internet will implode.

LoL, so true. But then he will try to claim stormfront or vnn isn't a biased source.

I like how you clowns have to make little digs which essentially amount to "u b stupid".
Did any of you study physics at university level?
    I did.
    Einstein is nothing.

    No.
I have the works of Poincare and Lorentz.
What did Einstein come up with that was new?
    Back up your assertion.

Well, I thought I had a good thread up. Then the trolls came.......

Yeah, I'm sure that's why a lot of physicists would heartily disagree with you.

    This is ridiculous.

Einstein plagiarized E = mc2 from De Pretto. You dismiss that because "it's not based on the ether". The ether is irrelevant and always has been.

    Einstein came up with nothing.

What did he come up with?

Did De Pretto come up with general and special relativity? With curved space? Was De Pretto instrumental in developing nuclear technology?

The only debate here is whether there was any influencing of Einstein by De Pretto. Who knows? They may have simply come up with similar formulae since they were describing the same fact - the same reality. But that famous formula is still just one part of a great deal of genius that was worked out and published by Einstein, and shame on you making such silly statements as "Einstein came up with nothing." Talk about baloney..

Poincare and Lorentz came up with relativity.

"Electromagnetic phenomena in a system moving with any velocity smaller than that of light" Lorentz, 1904.

"On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies" Einstein, 1905.

Max Planck developed quantum theory. This is the only supposed contribution of Einstein to nuclear technology, or am I missing something.

If Einstein came up with so many concepts, it should be easy for you to list one or two.

    Go ahead.

Edit: BTW what is "curved space"? You mean like, a skateboard ramp? Did you mean spacetime?

You have the wrong view on evolution. It's not some constant march forward, it's the slow "updating" and adjusting of a species to exist more efficiently in the environment(s) that they inhabit. The circumstances we've been lucky enough to be put though have given us the gift of adaptability and mental flexibility. We've managed to go from feudalism to late capitalism without any noticeable "evolution" thanks to our adaptability.

    Pretty much.

There are plenty of smart Jewish scientists. Einstein isn't one.

If you mean a troll, by someone who hijacked your thread, then yes... A whole ship of trolls... like hijacking pirate ship of them... Because I see no link between E=mc2rd and all those other people and the Bonobo Chimp making tools.

    Can anyone?
