There are govt programs in most countries , yet it doesnt stop kids begging in streets. Child beggers are not as obvious in US as in most other countries mainly in Black neighbourhoods. .

    A) Now what was it I've said that makes you feel "insulted " I didnt know you're so touchie and easily "insulted " my apologies . (Ehem)

However , at least you no longer deny that a large number of families in america experience hunger.

    B) By all means feel free to be as - audacious - as we wish. We're (British) are quite use to Yanks and other foreigners pointing out ALL our faults . We can take it and much more . :)

We always have more pressing issues.

We were fighting a land war in Asia and a war on poverty at home at the time of Apollo.

    And losing both.

Not much more pressing than that.

Right now it is just a numbers and fiscal discipline issue.

    More than doable.

I have never met anyone who gives two (*)(*)(*)(*)s about Brits, or their faults. I assure you I will never waste a minute of my life on an English thread.

So, $52.5 billion to put two shipping containers on the moon, which can't do anything useful. Basically, Newt is pushing for the deliberate creation of a small lunar welfare state. Which, by the way, could never declare statehood, given that international treaty forbids any territorial claims outside the earth.

So, just what can we do on the moon now that we can't do in near earth orbit? Mining helium-3 at the moment is pointless, being that we don't know how to make fusion work.

What does the moon have? Low gravity and plentiful always-on solar power. If we could send masses of mass to the moon, it could work. But we can't, given the current technology. What we need first are some earthbased magnetic-railgun-type mass launcher thingies that can shoot big masses of mass into orbit. Not people though, because the G-forces would squash them.

But how are China, Russia and Japan going to find the funds to finance Newt's venture?

And is your great-granddaughter going to be happy with the beyond-astronomic debt that will prevent her from getting an education ... of any sort?

The one with the H3 will rule the world. But that's not why I'm behind it. My reasons are we humans need to start spreading out. Newt is the first one to realize in history what happens when people leave one place for another. I firmly believe this is why Progressives are against this. They hate to lose control of people.

I think it would have been a stupid move if I'd stopped and took a photographs in a Black neighbourhood.

Waking up tomorrow morning and finding the national debt zero'd would be nice, but it's not a reality. Sure the cost are up front, just like anything else worth doing. So try thinking long term, like that of your children or grand children for once, and not just tomorrow morning.

You reasons for not sharing "the dream" revolve around you saying "I" twice. That's not good enough here.

    Pretty blatantly racist statement there.

NASA over an eight year period is projected to roughly 92 billion dollars anyway.

Why not spend money actually getting somewhere.

People here have drank the Koolaid in thinking that space programs are so expensive.

After we privatized NASA, this is kind of a moot point.

Space exploration should be a pretty low priority now.

When should it be a high priority?
