Nonsense. The strongest incentive to come here is social and economic liberty. This is just wishful thinking. People come to America because it is a great nation, so unless you plan to make our country worse than Mexico, the incentive to come and live here will remain strong. Additionally, your third option is a bunch of authoritarian foolishness. Forcing employers to comply with yet another regulatory requirement will simply increase the cost of doing business in our country. What's more, it will be an intrusive and unconstitutional centralized database of employment conditions in the US.
The fence solution is a dumb idea. A competitive "fence" for those with the inability to compete for employment is much better. Skilled immigrants should pose no threat and actually benefit our nation. Not sure about this one, but I would like to see us save loads of cash by limiting communication by language. 14 different copies of every form is a bit out of hand. We have a citizenship process, currently. Everyone should go through the same process. I would add that all children born to aliens should have to go through this process, and no assistance should be offered to subsidize their cost of living. Once the cost of living forces higher average wages, unskilled labor will not have an incentive to illegal migrate to the US. Many of my colleagues have told me horror stories about attaining a visa. Not sure how this would be done, but I can support less red tape. It would not be hard to make it easier to deport illegals. I don't think you really have to spend a lot of money on deportation, but I would like the current avoidance to at least become less apparent. I could give a crap less who is controlling it as long as proper taxation is removed from their compensation. I was unaware that being in the US for a long time rendered someone incapable of going through the citizenship process.
Well, not to put words in his mouth, but as time goes on and he expounds on these, I think that will all be a part of the guest worker programdenying jobs to illegals. You either get registered with the system, or you don't get hired.
It would end well. We'd be saving tens of billion of dollars on welfare alone. Maybe a few billion in prison costs.
I disagree. Its rather disturbing to me that a President would reward people for breaking a law, he is supposed to enforce. Newt is a chump on this one.
I think the bleeding heart libs who don't want to deport anyone will inadvertently accomplish that feat. Bring 100 million illiterate poor people from South and Central America and Mexico into this country and watch the American Dream crumble into dust for everyone.
