Its all cyclical. This happened several times before. Harley-Davidson isn't going away and they will return to the top of the US market when the cycle runs its course .
So efficiency is a bad thing? While it sucks for the workers who don't relocate and lose their jobs, the truth of the matter is those employees work at the pleasure of the company.
Odd then that he was sure to include the overseas manufacturing. THIS is why people claim fake (or cherry picked) news. So, you announce 1. HD is closing a Kansas City Plant 2. and they are moving production to PA and 3. opening a plant overseas. Post about 1 and 3 and excluding 2 is trolling and fake news.
Apparently, the OP is unaware companies consolidate operations all the time......been going on well before the Trump tax cuts. But at least he found something to blame Trump for today.
I haven't given an opinion either way. I am a capitalist and if I was the business owner I would do the same
Thanks Trump! Now people are not buying Harleys like they used to. I own several motorcycles and Harley just doesn't make anything I can take to the track and race.
Not only are the people there getting screwed but jobs are still moving overseas but they will just IGNORE THAT PART.
Yep, about 20 mins from home. They are hiring 145 soon. However, over the years Harley has blackmailed the state and pitted one state against another trying to get concessions to keep operations in the state. A few years ago the state gave them $5M to keep operations in York, soon after they cut the workforce and reduced wages by I think $3/hr. Now much of the work force is part time. Of course it takes a genius to realize cutting wages and jobs saves the company money so the CEO got a 50% increase to his bonus that year.
What does quality have to do with Harley? https://www.moneytalksnews.com/the-most-reliable-motorcycle-brand-not-harley/
