I had all but given up on "found footage" flicks, but this actually looks good.

I love good horror. But it's VERY hard to succeed at.I'd say 90% of Horror movies
are unwatchable. They haven't made a good horror movie in years.Today's horror
turn into sequel quicker than ordering a snow cone at Dairy Queen.
Not famaliar with this series - [Rec] - but generally speaking sequels run flat.
    Except - Haloween - and - Friday the 13th -.
    - Hostel - seemed OK,but it relies too much on sheer gruesomeness.I don't
wanna learn to be a fan of that type horror. There was this guy I tried to talk to at
my Video Store { one of the best in the Country } about Horror. He was obsessed with
certain type graphic horror.Like ran to the Video Store as soon as a new Horror release
came out.Porn Pigs are the same way.Anyway this guy had a look about him.He actually
looked deranged in the face.Like I could easily imagine his fang-glee when watching another
human get ripped apart.I don't like that.Horror Fans didn't used to be that Psychotic.
Plus I don't cotton Zombie Movies.I think they are ALL faky.Kinda like really bad Mummy movies.
The first Nightmare I had was over the First Mummy movie I saw.I still enjoy Universal Horror eben
though jaded.I personally think George Romero did more to harm Horror than good. With the exception
of his - Tales From the Darkside - which he produced, not wrote ALL his Movies to me are
unwatchable.I think he's more a Cult Director than actually a Horror Maven.
Now ... Roger Corman is one Great Director.Meaning it doesn't take a big budget to
accomomplish.Corman lent Dennis Hopper a 16mm camera and off Dennis went to make
    - Easy Rider -. Shooting the last scene { Mardi Gras } to see how it would appeal.
Hunting around for gaffers in order to extend their original $40,ooo budget.
If Corman could make - The Wild Angels - for around $350 Grand,Peter Fonda
felt they { he and Hooper } could make a biker flick for about that much.
And thus began Movie history and The Best low budget Cult Movie, ever made.
No written script just a basic Idea.In order to capture the times.

I don't normally watch too many horror movies, but the Mr. and I sat down and watched all those Paranormal Activity movies (he's into those movies). The ending to the third one was messed up, and I thought they were pretty good.

There's been alot of good horror movies made recently...

Paranormal Activity (all of them), VHS, The Woman In Black, The Nightmare on Elm Street & Friday The 13th reboots, Rob Zombie's first
Halloween movie, Saw (the first two, the rest were too much), the list could go on...

    I love those...

    Can't wait for PA4

WHile I don't think it's technically a TROMA flick, MOTHER'S DAY from 1980 was directed by one of the Kaufman brothers and is a bang up nutso ass kicking horror show.

Horror does not need blood and guts, but they add nice flavor to a cool exploitation flick.

Greatest horror film ever is TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.

Blasphemy indeed, especially when the flick includes full on shots of Virginia Madsen's glorious plump sweater muffins.

    OMG! I love that movie!

I liked Wolfcreek, and the remake of Texas Chainsaw. 28 days later, was great! I thought the remake of Dawn of the Dead was really good. The original "Thing" was awesome. Poltergeist, The Ring, ENTITY, The Shining, Blair witch, Paranormal Activity series all some of my favs.

Bought a copy of - ENTITY - and am waiting for the right mood. It's been so long I kinda
    forgot what it's about.
The original - Thing - is still the best version.Even though I like Kurt Russell and his version
is excellent.I have a hard time with newer films and their cinematography.I don't like
really dark background shots.I think it is a flaw in the making of most films. This last
decade some of the worst Movies used really dark background.
To me acting is very important in a Horror movie.Whether a Mad professor or just a
professor should emote authority. There are no more Lionel Atwills.
The reason - Them - was good, had a great deal to do with the Professor, played
by jolly Edmund Gwenn, who lent seriosness to the pending threat.Today's Horror is all
about the Dopey theatrics of some blood & guts.Take Boris Karloffs near human
Frankenstein { compared to most other versions } as the frantic Colin Clive gradually
    becomes hysterical " It's Alive.It's Moving.It's Alive.It's alive ... It's alive.In the name of God,
Now I know what it feels like ... To be God ! "
Every word as believable as humanly possible. That does not exist today.Sorry Folks.
Horror has to be done for more than mere shock value.
Because there is a thing known as Schlock.Horror has to reach one's
inner fears and manipulate.Horror is all about Manipulating fear or Phobia.

Dog Soldiers (but its more a soldier movie, still I like real costume werewolves over CGI and the suffocation you feel in the movie made it crazy tense)
Jaws (kept me out of the ocean for years)
    Halloween (original)
    Scream (first one)
    Needful Things
    The Others
    Rosemary's Baby

The Exorcist is the scariest but I don't even like talking about it so can't say it's my favorite.

    - Needful Things - is well written and acted.I like those kinda horror movies.
Plus the setting is ideal.Sometimes cheesy setting can ruin a horror.
    - Texas Chainsaw Massacre - worked because of the heinous living
conditions of a Home ? yeah right ... Dwelling out in the middle of
God knows where and that Generator running.Inside the house is a place of
    sheer bedlam and depravity.
    - Needful Things - succeeds because of the setting and the Townfolk and
a good storyline revolving around a new Antique Shop offering those
    passerby a temptation.In short ... Manipulation.

Nah, Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight was creepier than Candyman, and that's not even a horror film.

I know action and horror have become kind of joined at the hip, but I can't see T2 as a "horror movie". It's an action movie, one of the best of its kind. "Horror" movies, I believe, are based around the idea of scaring or otherwise disturbing the audience. T2 was all about sci-fi excitement.
