Can a good movie be made w/o any dialogue.? I mean, short of any special
    Akira Kurosawa venture.
    A movie should depend on a screenplay.If it doesn't than it isn't a movie.
I guess maybe you want pictures as in a coloring book. That is the problemo with
todays youth. They are just too doggone lazy to listen. It's all about Visuals.

I saw most of "Cube" & none of "Cube 2".
I just thought the concept of "Cube" was interesting.
In High School, I took a Science Fiction course & saw a video of a cube scenario, but obviously much more tame, & was intrigued by it.

Texas Chainsaw, Silence of the lambs, and Psycho....were all loosely based on the same man Ed Gein...

In my opinion Hannibal Lector was based off of several serial killers Ed Gein being one of the least scary, and Albert Fish being the worst. Other killers I see referenced in the series are the Pickton brothers, Ted Bundy, Charles Albright, I am sure there are more.

Good way to scare the crap out of yourself is read about real life serial killers. There are some real crazy people out there that enjoy preying upon people.

The way her mom died was mind blowing, to me...

I can't wait to see how Chloe Grace Moretz & Julianne Moore play these roles in the remake...

    No dialogue doesn't work...

    But, sometimes, dialogue is unnecessary...

Take Clarice Starling's final showdown with Buffalo Bill in "The Silence of the Lambs," for example...

I liked "The Crazies" a lot...

    Oh yeah...

I really avid into true crime stuff as well, so, I've seen all about that...

It's a huge part, at least to me, of what makes those movies so scary...

Youth. I'm 48 and have been a horror goon and gore hound since the 70's. I have some experience with film too and I know what a screenplay is. any time I read a screenplay loaded with dialog I know it was written by an amateur or a lazy writer. There are very few movies that can work dialog heavy, an exception being MY DINNER WITH ANDRE. Gobs of dialog need to be crafted with brilliance and most is not.

Julianne Moore did a movie - Safe - {1995} that was shocking in it's attempt
to prove why ALL Citizens should be paranoid.I won't give away as to why.But it
involves every american,as soon as they go outdoors.
I'll bet no one here even heard of the movie, let alone saw.

    - My Dinner With Andre - isn't really a movie as much as a tete-a-tete documentary.
Yet it was Film Critic Gene Siskel's all time favorite movie. It is basically a
    philosophical discussion between 2 Intellectuals.
Some of the best movies have Great Dialogue ,like Billy Wilder movies.
Wilder movies use that " Lubitsch Touch ".Like me posts.

Apollo 18 was ok. Basically the movie Paranormal Activity set on the moon. Lots of shakey camera work, but the set was fairly realistic depicting a lunar module from that era.

Not the worst movie I've ever seen.

    **Spoiler**

Moon rocks turn into parasitic creatures.

Yes, you're your own biggest fan; kind of Annie Wilkes in a funhouse corridor of mirrors.

One of the worst serial killers was Gary Heidnik. I still remember watching on the news when the house was discovered in Philadelphia. Rape, torture, murder...kidnapping women, feeding them dog food and later feeding them the bodies of women that died miked with dog food.

This is a great website to read about serial killers...

He actually wasn't considered a "serial killer" because he only killed 2 women, he was a rapist and a sexual sadist. The legal definition of "serial killer" has to include at least 4 confirmed murders.

One of the more unusual ones you may have not heard of is this guy - he was a highly-decorated Canadian Army colonel who lead a double life as a rapist and a murderer, though he only has 2 proven murders so he's also not technically considered a "serial killer", though he likely murdered more which were never officially confirmed.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Williams

I try to avoid reading any more about murderers or sexual criminals than I have to, because I believe it contributes to social misanthropy by having these individuals made into "cultural icons", despite the fact that it's more likely you'd win the lottery 100X over than ever meet a serial killer. Our culture glorifies violence and evil way too much just to satisfy morbid curiosity, pretty pitiful - making sociopathy, rape, and violence into something "cool". I bet more kids know the name of the killer in Silence of the Lambs (Hannibal Lecter) than even know the Bill of Rights.

That is why I like movies based in fact. And why - Blair Witch Project - is worthless.
Has absolutely no worth whatever.I'd ruther see a movie about how to train dogs
    to fart.
Of course some Serial Killer movies aren't good. The one about John Wayne Gacy
starring Brian Dennehy was OK.The Jeffrey Dahmer one was unwatchable.
The Ted Bundy one too long and seemed like it was directed by the guy who
    did - Knight Rider - { David Hasselhoff }.

I thought "The House On Haunted Hill" was OK. Maybe not great, but I liked it.
Edit: OK the truth is, I just liked it 'cause Ali Larter is in it!

    Ah, a kindred spirit...

I enjoyed that movie, and, TBH, I was drawn to watch because I liked the original w/ Vincent Price...

Ali Larter was def a great bonus, though...

And, overall, it's a pretty decent movie...

    Actually - A & E - had the best true crime drama.Dominic Dunne did a series
called - Power,Priviledge and Justice - showcasing noteworthy cases like the
seedy Las vegas motel murder that leads to the Deleware Mansion of the
    Powerful Dupont family.
Or those rich Beverly Hills brothers who brutally murdered their Parents.
    The Menendez Boys.
I'll take that stuff any day. It's actually quite shocking.Reality sometimes has a
way of doing that.Especially when a person leaves being a teenager behind.
Most today's Horror movies are tailored for Teenagers.
