Government is antithetical to freedom. The least possible government necessary to prevent anarchy is what Jefferson foresaw.

 

For every big government regulation put on the books means the loss of freedom for someone.

 

Freedom is a zero sum game. The bigger and more powerful government becomes, the less freedom the people have.

At either extreme is the U.S. in 1776 (the most freedom) and the totalitarianism under Stalin and Mao (least freedom).

 

Why should anyone have to prove him wrong.

No one wants more government than we need. The debate is about the proper role and size of government. So the op is nothing but a red herring.

America First!!! Well no poo poo sherlock. The question is, what is best for America? What is our role in the world. What do we stand for? What are we defending? Are we a nation of principles or strictly borders. This is the war raging online between the nationalists, and patriots.

Nationalists see America as a set of borders.

We are both putting what we see as America first. But the nationalists don't believe America is a country of principles. They just see borders.
