Actually Muhammed had a dozen wives. He made a rule that the men could have 4 wives, but when he wanted something that was forbidden to others, he just went off and talked to ArRamon, (Allah), and was granted permission to have as many as he wanted. Don't know where you got that info, but it is wrong. The women are sold by the father. They have nothing to say about the marriage. Many times a woman is raped by the suiter, and must be married to him. There may be places where the rules are lax, but they are few and far between.
