I'm not dissing it I'm just wondering why you would watch an imitation when you can see the one with Johnny Depp.

Same with the little mermaid. I loved that movie as a boy. There's no way that it was anything close to it. I saw the little creepy CGI crab they called Sebastian it's just a crap Sebastian was a character that had expression.

Again why watch the imitation?

I agree there's two stories you can tell but they're not interested in that. It's risky. People may not be interested in it. People may not find the character quite as compelling. So they have to connect it to Johnny Depp in order to use his Fame and the phantom of the original to try and sell the imitation.

 

Yeah all we have to do is point to Star wars.

That was a money printing machine. The toys the t-shirts, and wokeness destroyed it.

The sad thing is they can make a compelling show and put the stuff in it but that's not good enough it has to be hand-fisted and obvious to that everyone can see you know exactly what the message is.

 

I made money on the sale of the stock. It had done well for many years, but it has been on a downward spiral. The parks are still doing okay, but the movies have been one bomb after another.

Disney has gotten away from the formula that made them work, good family entertainment. Their leadership seems to think that politics sells. It doesn’t. In the entertainment business it divides. You can be successful producing products for a target audience, but in Disney’s case they need to keep the base broad rather than looking to change the world.

 

It wasn't that white ppl don't like black actors. It's that they are not that interested in black themed narrative and would prefer a white themed narrative.

I guess Depp was sidelined by Disney for his flirtation with Russia. Recently, a number of Hollywood actors have been replaced for their pro-Russia views.

 

It really is about foreign box office. Black casts and themes usually do okay in America but don't sell a lot of tickets overseas. With the huge budgets of films these days, black films carry a lot more risk of loss for studios.
