@YanniKouts: Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos arrested. ~media #Greece

It's all over Twitter. This has to do with the guy murdered by the Golden Dawn supporters. This is huge news because he's the guy who threatened to take out all of his Golden Dawn members out of parliament. And there was supposed to be some protest by military reservists today who were Golden Dawn supporters but Greek authorities feared violence so they made it illegal.. however the arrest of the Golden Dawn leader is very combustible. Bad things might happen soon. Which could have bad implications for EU and the world. This is the story to watch.

    From BBC

    Oh my god.

Any greater detail on why he was arrested? I seriously dislike guilt by association crimes.

    This is all we know.

The killing of Pavlos Fyssas - whose stage name was Killah P - has sparked protests in Athens and across Greece.

George Roupakias, who said he was a supporter of Golden Dawn, was arrested.

George Roupakias was arrested over the murder of Pavlos Fyssas
The government launched a crackdown, including raids on Golden Dawn premises and the suspension of police believed to be sympathisers.

Greek police arrested one of their own colleagues who was reportedly working as a bodyguard for the party, during a raid on its offices in the western town of Agrinio on Tuesday.

The government also began an inquiry into the activities of Golden Dawn, which won nearly 7% of the vote in 2012 elections.

In recent months, Golden Dawn has been accused of perpetrating attacks on migrants and political opponents - including an attack on Communist Party members earlier this month which is said to have left nine people in hospital.

Has he, as an individual, actually done anything though? What specifically are they arresting him for? Just being the leader of Golden Dawn when these killings went down?

    Did he order them?

This confirms it. Golden Dawn is all but dead, and Nationalism has just taken a step back. Damn it extremists, why can't you learn history or the original position of Nationalists? Extremism isn't the ideal for governing, and if you must be extreme, be covert.

Now we have to go on damage control, promoting the true essence of Nationalism, which isn't violence of pro-biogtry or discrimination. But that one's Nation-State is the most important political and geopolitical outlook for a party of governance.

We have to see how their supporters take this news before we can confirm their demise.
It could tear the country apart into a civil war.

This is what actually has been happening, as confirmed by the media.

    http://raedwald.blogspot.ca/2013/09...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

The arrest this morning of the leader of Greece's Golden Dawn party may well precipitate the resignation of the party's MPs and a new election in Greece - but this may not aid the fascist party. The Golden Dawn is an authoritarian organisation with a high but secret membership amongst the police, security service and army; anti-libertarian and aiming for an all-powerful state, they would close down blogs, control the press and throw free-thinkers such as you and I in concentration camps.

Like a Hydra, the party has powerful members everywhere. Recently, a very senior Greek intelligence officer from the EYP (the National Intelligence Service), the equivalent of a Director in our own security organisations, was removed from post, and both the Greek Police and Army are suspected of training and arming GD members of a shadow paramilitary wing.

It looks as though the Greek government are acting now either because they fear a GD coup to be imminent (or have been told so by the intelligence agencies of other EU nations and the US) or are acting now because they can't trust their domestic intelligence agencies or police to be loyal and useful. For Greeks there are now two choices - the same two choices that faced Germans in the 1930s. If they support GD whilst the party is still small and semi-legal, they could accrue protection and favouritism in the event of its seizing power; if they oppose it now, they could end up buried in a shallow grave in an olive grove.

Whilst the Leader of GD may now be facing a short period in Greece's equivalent of Landsberg Prison, the question is how far GD members have penetrated the key offices and departments of state - and whether this is too far to be reversed.

-- sounds scary eh? That's why I believe a civil war could possibly happen.

He has been arrested because of suspicion of involvement in the murder. He and other politicians arrested will not lose their seats in Parliament unless they are convicted of a crime.

According to the BBC a few minutes ago several police have also been arrested/suspended including two Senior Officers. This goes with what I had heard about people phoning the police concerning 'immigrants' being told to contact 'Golden Dawn' which sounds like a criminal enterprise.

Unlikely; Golden Dawn are a tiny minority party, and only gained a little support through opportunism. With luck they'll fade away into the septic tank of history.

Not concerned with such thinking. I dislike punishing people for the actions of others. If he himself has coerced another, or ordered another to do the same, then I'm cool with protecting society from him, not before that point.

You fight fascism with liberty, not fascism.

Sometimes in order to gain that liberty you have to fight fascists with the only tactic they understand-violence. World War 2 ringing any bells, or should we have merely sat back and left the world to be infected with the joys of Nazism?

Have no problem with violence, just violence against those who haven't used violence themselves.

It is not possible to ban political groups in Greece. Hence the Supreme Court of Greece has reclassified Golden Dawn as a Criminal Organisation who is being investigated by the anti terrorist branch.

    Police have been arrested.

    Army members have been arrested

    http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/24/golden-dawn-greece-state-authority

It has also been reported that there has been infiltration of the Judiciary though this apparently is something which has not yet been brought out in the open in Greece.

General feeling seems to be 'good move Greece, if a little late'. - unless you go to Stormfront that is. Boy are they miffed.

Well. They are messing up with the military. Roughtly a few dozen years after the end of the colonels regime. Which seems quite a bad idea.
A lot of crying virgins out there are complaining that the part of the police, the military, and the secret services, are supporting GD. Now let get realistic
You are a soldier, feeding your family and serving your country.
What would happen, if you learn that your wage are being cut by 37% overnight ?
Wouldn't you be frustrated and resentful against the current governement/political system, selling off a country where gold and oil deposit were found recently ?

Adding to the total breakdown due to lack of fund, such as national orchtra being dissolved, the TV shutdown during some time.
And finally, the intense immigration to the "doorway" of europe. Roughtly 1 millions ILLEGALS for a country of 11 M people.
There was a patriotic moderate party before golden dawn. Now they disaspear and got replaced by Greek style neo-nazi.
    What does it mean ?
Extreme situation lead to extremism. No amount of antifascist milita-like action, state propaganda and police intervention is going to change that.
Especially since in the opposition, there is also hard line communist, you know, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao. Please don't pretend that they are freedom fighters as well.
So. If anything, GD violent suppression may be the slow start of a civil war or at least severe disorder.
GD motto is "Blood & honour" They die before abandoning the cause. Good job creating those guys Troika.

You can carry on hoping but last I heard they had only manage to muster about 350 people outside Police Stations. Seems like the Greeks are not so Nazi as you would wish.

Voting for it as a protest and wanting to drag Greece into a civil war because you are a Nazi are two very different situations. Let's deal with reality not your wish for civil war and a Nazi Greece. Tell me, do you like many on Stormfront believe 'The Jews' are behind this?

If you assume i wish a Nazi greece i have little more to tell you.

Now for the sake of it. I will still explain you my position. Since the end of 1945 (i could say the movement started in 1918 with SDN nation society ) the weaker nations are dominated ideologically, economically, and militarly by stronger one. A free nation is a rare case nowadays. Strong nations are still dominated from inside. From the one who truly control them.
Instead of direct control like colonization, foreign interest are being defended by powerful public and secret loobies, leaving little choice even in free country and in so called democracy .

Refusal of referendum and direct democracy are result of those lobbies.
After the french people refused the 2005 Euro constitution (55% against ), we had a few year later the Lisbonne treaty was still applied and voted by the French parliament no matter what the people actually tough of it.

The jewish looby is merely more effective and resilient in manipulating political, medias and economic institution than other loobies.
That doesn't mean i wish for violent actions against them. Simply pushing them out of power thought a peaceful political "revolution"
If we had direct democracy, a strong and less corruptible state and parliament. Maybe we could have less war decided in shady bureau, and more change based on what the people want. Providing the media and their financial backing are put under strict regulation (so they have less financial bias toward lobbies ) in order to prevent buying out voters trough mass media.

You are currently supporting Nazi Golden Dawn and making excuses for their criminal behaviour. You are expressing a wish that them being arrested for such behaviour will result in civil war.

Different discussion and not connected to the thread.

Direct Democracy is not feasible in large advanced societies. It demands that people be aware of issues. The main reason democracy has not worked is because people did not have interest in issues. Golden Dawn however is just a traditional Nazi party as you will be aware if you have visited Stormfront - which I often do to see what they are thinking.

I would agree that the EU has been short on democracy and short on people in EU countries having much knowledge on it. This can be sorted by such ways as starting an activist group, giving information and so on. Then if people actually care about it they will respond. If that response becomes strong enough a Referendum will be forthcoming. Democracy demands that people actively work at it. It does not come out of the sky every 4 or 5 years for a day.
This phrase is only accepted by White Nationalists and classical antisemetes particularly when just put on it's own. If for instance you had said the US Jewish Lobby I would have given you more room and asked if perhaps you had made a mistake and meant the Israeli Lobby which of course is not just comprised of Jews. However the 'Jewish Lobby' as you have put it resonates of 'jews owning the world' and such hate propaganda.
    What bloomin Jewish Lobby?

    Violence against whom? 'Jews'?
When people start using the tools of democracy they can create change. While they lie asleep in their beds they are prone to abuse by both the Global economy and groups like Golden Dawn which will try and confuse people who have chosen not to educate themselves in crises.

Again Direct Democracy would not work in France. People have far to busy lives to be able to be knowledgeable enough to learn about everything. Change can be done by people taking an interest and starting activist groups concerning their interests.
Then work for it. Form protest groups. You will need to produce a good economic blueprint as well.

Are you wanting the media censored?
