Well kind of depends what you mean by large, centralized government. Hugh dominant monopolies have existed in America since about forever or at least since the industrial revolution.

The U.S. currently has a large, centralized government that seems to be heading towards seizing even more power over normal American citizens. Fed.gov has grown in concert with large corporations, using campaign contributions to statist politicians to create laws and regulations to stifle competition and the free market.

    Do you disagree with this?

Why don't you clarify when you think a large central government actually started in America? Or do think it has been ongoing since the Constitution was written?

This will give you a bit of historical perspective

I believe we set upon our current path after the evil Woodrow Wilson was elected president, with FDR and Bush II somewhat sealing our fate.

Many liberals agree with me about Wilson:

Wilson led the progressive movement to initiate the income tax, established the Federal Reserve Bank and greatly curtailed civil rights, much more than any other president.

FDR and his progressive allies established even more Fed.gov power over the individual, interned American citizens in camps and raised spending massively, raised taxes to the highest rates in American history, introduced large amounts of new regulations and did everything the left would pride him under as their golden child.

Bush, of course, elevated state security to oppressive heights that Obama built upon.

So today we have big corporations and elitist statists bribing politicians in the form of campaign contributions to create laws and regulations to stifle competition and the free market, once again showing how big government is a burden for normal Americans.

In response to your link, you realize Fed.gov would never break up tech companies as they once broke up the telephone monopoly?
