One was the fact that they lived in Jewish areas apart from other citizens. Other reasons were their Jewish rituals - washing hands before eating, after going to the toilet, bathing weekly, cleansing bodies before burial helped. Their food was specially prepared. Jews were meticulous in their cleansing habits. On top of this there was general AntiSemetism in Europe at the time. This was enough to convince that the Jews were to blame. OK.
