It tries tiptoeing around that bit by referring to "minorities", when it's not really minorities at all, but rather poor minorities. That excludes all those rich minorities.

Leaving us with poor young blacks.

No, its just not racist. Are you seriously going to criticise the paper for not being racist?

The state should only provide some minimum security to it's citizens

Benefits are never provided by the state but only by stealing from citizens and giving to others

No state should ever be permitted to force a citizen to support another

I’ve struggled to get my head around your assertion but simply can’t see how degrees founded on pseudo-philosophic deconstructionist gibberish connect with fey aristocracy. Maybe you’re hinting at the ultimate academic frontal lobotomy, an MB A degree?

That’s going beyond Randian ‘rational selfishness’ into ‘in some cases’ just plain sick.

Democracy invariably extends all manner of permissions to elected governments. Randian ‘ethics’ and it’s peculiar conception of ’stealing’ makes little sense in this context.

If you think it's racist to be specific, then yes.

Not quite correct. First, I'm not talking about throwing money at the problem. I'm talking about coming up with actual solutions to make education better and better access to mental health services. Now...to show you what I mean as it relates to what you just said...Scenario time...

Person A grows up, gets educated under our current system. Person A is an average student per the current standards. Has a kid.

Alternate Universe. Person A gets educated under a system of education that focuses on individual students strengths and weaknesses and pushes Person A towards their strengths while doing what can be done to shore up the weaknesses. Strengths are focused on the most though. Under this new system Person A graduates with an A- overall grade. Alternate Universe Person A has a kid.

Education is where it all starts. For everyone. My suggestion isn't about money. And its not a short term band aide like we often do now a days. Its meant as a permanent solution where the benefits show up over a couple of generations. Its a long term strategy. Under my scenario which one do you think is going to raise their kid better? Alternate Person A? Or Original Person A?

As for how I would change our education system? Study the top 10 or top 5 education systems in the world. Take the best that they have to offer. Throw away the worst parts. And adjust it enough to fit our culture. Doing such should make for a better education system.

So, the young growing into awarness adults have constructed a world where self inflicted extinction of our species is an increasing probability has no effect on their world view?

I disagree. All people have a Right to Life -- including those who can not support themselves.

Many American families abandon members who need help. Altruism is not a Modern Western value.

The U.S. is ranked number 2, right under the UK. 70% of high school grads go on to higher education, and our universities are considered to be some of the finest in the world.

It's truth- ask any competent psychologist. A number of them have attended classes I've conducted on motivations and identity.
Of course it makes no sense to those who don't understand and won't accept the responsibility for their own life. They hate the idea , and call it "nonsense".
They can't respond to things they know nothing about.

Neither do most federal programs. Guess we should just shut them all down.

    FEMA, FDA, EPA, DOE, DE.

I will admit, it would be interested to see what would happen if we went to purely a state run nation with the federal having almost no power, “The powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined”. Would we have 50 states that are basically mini countries?

We rank second in post secondary education and 17th in primary and secondary education. How is that even possible?

As I wrote, we are ranked 2nd if we only count HS grads.

It's possible if we discount all those HS dropouts. Suddenly, things start looking pretty good. As for the dropouts, I guess you could try adopting some of the techniques used in north east asia. Those Koreans and Japanese kick some serious butt. There's no time to be playing xbox if you spend your entire day either in school or studying at your desk with a korean mom sitting right there, arms crossed and making damn sure that not a minute is wasted daydreaming.

Hell, I'd pay good money to watch a live cam feed of some MLK high school drop outs dealing with the dreaded asian education mama.
