Milo Yiannopoulos - I Hope this is of Concern to Christians

Words represent what is in the heart, the mind, and the soul - they absolutely express bigotry, racism, hate, etc.

 

This video is a terrible misrepresentation of Mother Teresa and her charitable foundation - focusing on the negatives of an organization that is in the trenches, working with the poor and sick. Obviously there are going to be some horrible cases, terrible pain, unsanitary conditions, etc. The video even accuses her of being self-serving, as if living in single room huts in India, is decadent. What have you and the other critics who created this video done for the poor and suffering? I would suggest you find a new cause, and drop the smugness.

 

So you didn't actually watch the whole video with your ears open. Your philosophy is the very tiresome, war mongering, "With us or against us" type. You can stand by the way-side of superstition for the next thousand years if you like - but I am moving forward.

Yes, I actually watched your biased video. I've read quotes from this women over the years. I saw a movie about her. I read about the results of her missions. I stand by my assertions. She can't really respond to your inflammatory video now, can she?

I had to go back and look up bigotry but there was only one interpretation for the definition which is to be intolerant of the opinions of others. I don't see how this has to do with intolerance of the opinions of others.

And, less than 30% of the country actually attends church with any regularity, and as a matter of fact most of them aren't any more enamoured with the GOP than they are with Democrats, which is another reason they voted against the GOP establishment as well, so you have no points here outside your rich fantasy life in the echo chambers you get your fake news from. Yes, I agree, on the surface, this comment may not be bigotry. If you watch the video at the beginning of this thread, you'll find, that in context, this man (and I use that word loosely) is very much a bigot. Another definition: A person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.

 

I do agree that Milo isn't a good role model, and I personally find him to be a high powered internet troll. I personally (as a conservative Catholic) would not attend his talks. That said, violent protests that destroy property and people's livelihoods are not justified to stop him from speaking. If my son (going to college next year) wanted to listen to Milo, I'd let him.

 

You sound like a good parent, confident that the values that you instilled in your son, will prevent him from latching onto this viral message.Congratulations - you probably raised him very well. That said, Milo is developing a cult-like following, and I'm concerned for our country. Many think that Nazi Germany can't happen here. I certainly don't think we're there, but attitudes are shifting rapidly in that direction

 

And Milo's following was greatly enhanced by the Berkeley riots. He laughed all the way to the bank on that one. This country is not becoming Nazi. Attitudes have really not changed much, except for what the media wants to portray. The current narrative is that we are being saved from the evil Trumpist Breitbart nazis by the heroic students of Berkely. People aren't buying it, at least not around here.

 

Milo never encourages violence. His greatest failing is his insulting comedy. I am not sure what parts you find similar to Nazism. Also, Nazis are people not the epitomy of evil. They may have a lot of things they have to answer for but not everything about them is 100% wrong. We have to discuss the parts and pieces.

 

I've watched many hours of Milo and haven't found anything too disagreeable. He is deliberately provocative, but that's sort of his thing. He wants to shock with speech to establish that it's still protected speech to do so.

I haven't seen him say much of anything fascistic, except his support for the elimination of unemployment through FDR style public works programs. But that basic method has broad support anyway.

Its time for people making Nazism comparisons to actually provide evidence of support for extermination of minorities, hard Labor for homosexuals, etc - because there are plenty of other actually spot on analogies (like FDR), but you choose the Nazis to conjure up images of Jews being marched into gas chambers.

 

Why? How is that bigoted? First liberals shame you for liking your own race as a preference for dating and now choosing a minority as a preference is now bigoted? And please keep in mind that he's also a Jew.

 

The actual definition is the intolerance of the PERSON that holds a different creed, belief, or opinion.

 

I don't know where "around here" is, but in Colorado, there is some real concern. I hear it. However, that said, this was NOT a Tea Party stronghold. The bigotry and hate aren't as infused here. I have regularly been traveling to Jacksonville, FL; and I see it there. This video is typical of the anger and hate. It gets worse as you get into it.

Tell the Jews in the holocaust that they weren't evil. Tell the WWII soldier who freed the victims of the concentration camps. Perhaps you could post a video link where Milo is encouraging togetherness and comradery to back up your statement. The prevalent message on signs at his rallies is "Hate Speech = Free Speech".

 

You misunderstand my position. People use Nazi as a catch all. "That is something Nazis would of done!" Nazi's had children and were fathers. Does that mean having children and being a father is evil?

It is stupid to just call someone a Nazi. It is important to discuss the real issue. Like, are they calling for concentration camps or doing genocide? Are they burning books that doesnt fit their ideology so that they can enforce their propaganda? Are they using violence on people who oppose their propaganda to silence them and make them afraid to speak against their movement?

 

Thanks for the clarification. As I mentioned earlier, I don't think we're at the extreme violence stage yet. But the hate virus is being spread. That virus is quickly becoming an epidemic. Just the fact that many of Milo's adherents would hold signs saying "Hate Speech = Free Speech" is evidence. What kind of person holds such a sign? What is the purpose of this message?

 

Answers to all of those questions can be found in the Bible. The perps weren't called Nazis but Israelites and Christians.
