It's made in response to self-righteousness. Their own. The Progressive imagines he/she is the keeper of goodness and wisdom, and that THAT is their role. Like little demigods, insane with perceived moral power. The sift through the dregs of 20thC social issues looking for something ... anything ..... upon which they can grandstand their moral superiority. Since there isn't really anything left in the way of old inequities, they just keep reheating the dregs.
Okay, I'm gonna respond to all of these at once. Yep, ANY minority. Like I said, perspective. Some people still do it and don't learn. Yes, people making issues over skin pigmentation are lame, and unfortunately that has been happening in this country pretty much since it's founding. It's definitely not just white guys. Are you actually an American? If the answer to that is no, then you have no real idea what it's like or what POC have to deal with and you've got no concept of history or reality if you think society doesn't care about color anymore.
Being a flaming liberal doesn't make you intelligent. It just makes you a conformist. For the life of me, I can't understand why any intelligent, observant and independent thinker would not be a racist. I have to believe someone like you actually notices racial differences in intelligence, attention span and motivation but works hard to find alibis for all these things because otherwise it would be impossible to create what you consider a perfect world.
I have actual (POC) relatives who migrated to America with nothing, and are now millionaires. All three of their children graduated from Harvard (they migrated to Boston ... handy!). And they migrated last century, when there were legitimate problems with racism. Worse, they migrated to a VERY white state. They succeeded despite that. Here in my own white nation, we have very black skinned, accented African doctors lording it over their white patients in ultra white areas full of rednecks. Many of our country towns here have Indian doctors, Chinese dentists, Egyptian lawyers, etc. I understand that African Americans have a different experience to that of other POCs in America, but what is the reason for that? Is it self inflicted (today)? I know a couple of black Americans who say it's all down to presentation and behaviour. ie, if you present yourself as educated, employed, and decent, you'll avoid almost all of the negative stuff associated with being black in America. They say if you comport yourself thusly, you'd have to actually work pretty hard to find any real antipathy towards your colour. And before you suggest that that is an unreasonable impost, please remember it's exactly the same impost which applies to all migrants of colour - whether Chinese, Indian, Mexican, etc. What you'll notice is that those first two (Chinese and Indian), almost exclusively present and behave well. There is no OTHER reason why they would attract less racism than Mexicans, yet they do. Mexicans, OTOH, are subjected to considerable racism. Why? You know, but I'll wager you don't like the answer.
I think our friend is referring to the unique conditions for African Americans in America. As mentioned, I live in a whiter country than America, and we have much 'blacker' Africans here ... yet they experience zero racism. In fact they're generally regarded as superior beings by white folk. There is certainly a long term cultural aversion to black culture in America (and I absolutely believe it's about culture, not skin tone), and no doubt this rode in on the original colour-based-racism horse, but it's not itself racism any more. It's 'culturism'. It won't be expunged until the people working in opposition to the betterment of their own and their fellows' condition, stop doing so.
These are behavioural (cultural) differences. And most are optional. Africans in my country are making successes of their lives via education and hard work. You can't explain these things away via race. Just as our Progressive nitwit friends can't explain away the fact that POCs in America either do now, or soon will, dominate Ivy League honour rolls.

Uzbekistan's culture and way of life is far different from America's, and if you've got POC relatives living here and making it big, good for them, they're supposed to. I've got relatives here who are very well off too and I can take your word on there being African doctors and Indian dentists there, I've never been to Central Asia. Like I said, experiences in America are far different than from other nations. True, people say if you present yourself well then everything will be okay, but that's not always the case here. You can be a poor black kid from the city or a rich black kid who's in the top 1% wealth of a certain area, but you're still just black to several people, no matter what you do, no matter how many degrees or jobs you get. I'll give you an example: James Blake, a black tennis star here got assaulted by cops in a hotel in New York last year. He didn't do anything, he just got thrown to the ground. My point is black people can be anything they want to be, but still get mistreated because they're black. Yeah, it was cool because you were always caught up on the biggest songs of all the genres as you waited for your video to come on. I don't think enough is brought up about the fact the great music of the 90s was a spawn of that, and the golden age died right along side MTV changing said format.
