557 above: "In fact Dems wanted Comey fired, remember?"

When Colbert informed his Leftist audience that Comey had just been fired by Trump minutes before (as the show was being taped) they erupted into jubilation and cheers.

"No, no, no, no, no!" Colbert had to get them calmed down and give them their new situationsplaining talking points.

Why do Trump's fans simply make up their own reality? They make outrageous statements without substantiation or sources.

I know the answer to that one. They learned it from their master. Trump does the same thing on a daily basis.

Some Democrats may have felt that way because Comey handed the election to Trump by re-opening the investigation of Clinton eleven days before the election. However, the Democratic leadership did not ask that Comey be fired. That would have been a simple matter at the time. Obama was President.

What is made up? Because something doesn’t fit your narrative doesn’t make it untrue. Cobert’s audience are a bunch of ignorant sheep in need of a shepherd.

Here’s a small sample of dems who wanted Comey gone. I’m shocked you don’t know about this.

Someone as in to this whole thing as you should remember some of this stuff.

Obama as president allowed the hacking of the DNC. He supposedly told Putin to cut it out on meddling. He claimed our elections were secure and not in danger. You are going to bring that assclown into this discussion? Hmmmm.

Of course, you want to change the subject. I don't care to talk about something that happened 2 1/2 years ago, although I know you would love to. Back to the present.

I have a prediction regarding Trump's summit with Kim Jong Un. You heard it here first.

The Mueller report is due out soon. Trump is getting enormous heat over his imaginary national emergency and the White House is concerned about the number of Republican defectors. On the very same day that he is meeting with Kim, the 27th, his former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, is slated to appear before the House Oversight Committee spilling his guts out on Trump's travesties in a public hearing and Americans will be listening closely.

What does this mean as far as the summit is concerned? It means Trump is desperate to get Kim to agree to certain steps toward denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

I predict Trump will give concessions to Kim to get certain agreements which Kim will forget about by March 1st. Up to now the U.S. has insisted on certifiable full denuclearization before any sanctions are lifted. I predict Trump will concede tit for tat steps toward denuclearization. N.K. agrees to certain steps be taken. U.S. removes certain sanctions, and so on.

Trump is desperate to change the subject.

As Trump likes to say, "We'll see what happens."

Ummm, Sandy, you brought it up. I just proved you wrong. :)

And didn’t the supposed collusion happen two and a half years ago? You’re still talking about that. You crack me up.

Not as desperate as Sandy to change the subject! :)

    :roflol::rolleyes: :juggle:

61 Falcon stated, "Why does he think every leader from an adverserial to us country is his best buddy, after meeting them once???Yet he seems to have no desire to have a decent relationship with any leader of our long time allies??"

I answered him as best as I could.

There is one possible explanation. Recalling Helsinki where Trump trashed American intelligence and accepted Putin's word because he was sincere, recalling Trump's Syrian surrender to Russia and Iran, it is logical to assume Trump, willingly or unwillingly, is an agent for Russia.

We know Putin interfered in our election for Trump's benefit. We know Putin's goal is to create as much chaos as he can within the American government.

There has been chaos within our government caused by Trump. He was "proud" to cause the longest government shutdown in American history. This was followed by a Constitutional crisis in which Trump wants to usurp a power of Congress, the appropriation of funds. There is historical polarity in today's politics caused by an extremely unpopular President.

Putin is quite pleased with these developments.

Is Trump a Russian agent? You decide. If your answer is no, please provide an explanation for the facts above.

This is a pretty strong indicator that Trump's fans can't handle Trump.

As can be seen from their own replies, that last statement is true.

You are going in circles and contradicting yourself in every post now. Thanks for the demo. Have a good evening. You are a talented writer, I hope when (if) this Mueller thing ends we can discuss something more interesting.

Rosenstein muddied the waters today with his confusing remarks.

"My view is that the Department of Justice is best served when people are confident that we're going to operate -- when we're investigating American citizens, in particular -- we're going to do it with appropriate sensitivity to the rights of uncharged people," Rosenstein said, saying it was "an issue that we'll be discussing nationally."

"When we charge someone, we need to be able to prove it beyond any reasonable doubt," he added. "And the guidance I always gave my prosecutors, and the agents that I worked with during my tenure on the front lines of law enforcement, were if we aren't prepared to prove our case beyond a reasonable doubt in court, then we have no business making allegations against American citizens."

Okay, what does that mean, exactly? The DOJ has a rule. A sitting President cannot be indicted. Is Rosenstein saying because Trump won't be judged in court, all the evidence against him is kept from the public? Is that going to be the DOJ's position. Rosenstein doesn't say.

We are not talking about just any American citizen here. We are talking about the President. Americans could care less about the involvement of Sean Spicer, Sarah Sanders, Kellyanne Conway, or any other member of the White House staff. 87 percent of Americans, including a large majority of both parties, want to see what the Mueller report has to say about Trump. Rosenstein didn't address that issue, either.

The House determines if there are sufficient grounds to impeach the President, not the attorney general. That means the entire report should be turned over to the appropriate committee in the House to determine if such grounds exist. Rosenstein failed to deal with that aspect of the situation.

Conclusion: It would have been a lot better if Rosenstein hadn't said a thing.

He did say this about Attorney General Barr. "I think we can count on him to do the right thing."

Rosenstein should have ended his remarks right there instead of sounding like a defense lawyer for Trump.

"Disgraced felon Michael Cohen is going to prison for lying to Congress and making other false statements. Sadly, he will go before Congress this week and we can expect more of the same. It's laughable that anyone would take a convicted liar like Cohen at his word, and pathetic to see him given yet another opportunity to spread his lies," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

In a case of the pot calling the kettle black, Trump tweeted recently, “Lying to reduce his jail time! Watch father-in-law!”

Both are forgetting one important fact. Que bono, who benefits. Did Cohen benefit when he lied to Congress about when negotiations for the Moscow Trump Tower ended? No, not at all. Cohen lied by saying the negotiations ended in January 2016, so that Trump's Presidential campaign would benefit.

    Trump benefited from Cohen lies.

Speaking of witness intimidation, a day before former Trump fixer Michael Cohen is scheduled to appear in an open hearing to discuss his relationship with Trump, strong Trump supporter Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz directly threatened Cohen via Twitter.

"Hey @MichaelCohen212," Gaetz tweeted on Tuesday afternoon. "Do your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she'll remain faithful when you're in prison. She's about to learn a lot..."

I have been following Washington politics for over five decades. Never have I ever heard a member of Congress threaten someone who is about to appear before a Congressional committee.

That said, nothing surprises me any more during the Trump era. Trump attracts men like Gaetz. The Congressman is only following up on witness intimidation by Trump and his lawyer, Giuliani.

I am speculating here, but I think most of Trump's fans on this forum are cheering for Gaetz.

    That wouldn't surprise me, either.

Another Trump fan who uses characterizations and can't substantiate what he says. Somehow he thinks merely saying something makes it true.

What are you talking about? How did I contradict myself?

In the meantime, all other Trump fans have given up on this very important subject matter.

Sandy, you claimed Dems didn’t want rid of Comey. I proved they did. You changed the subject and accused me of doing so. Then you say you don’t want to talk about 2.5 year old news but do continually.

So, how about that Cohen testimony? Think it’s grounds for impeachment? :)

Have you looked at the title of this thread recently? Perhaps you think the Cohen testimony is "2.5 year old."

    No.

You didn't answer my question. How did I contradict myself?

It is contradictory to bring up a subject, challenge me to prove you wrong, be proved wrong and then claim you don’t want to talk about it because it’s 2.5 year old news. If you don’t want to discuss it don’t include it in your posts.

Putin is quite pleased with these developments.

Trump ordered his chief of staff to grant his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, a top-secret security clearance last year, overruling concerns flagged by intelligence officials and the White House’s top lawyer.

Trump’s decision in May so troubled senior administration officials that at least one, the White House chief of staff at the time, John F. Kelly, wrote a contemporaneous internal memo about how he had been “ordered” to give Mr. Kushner the top-secret clearance.

The White House counsel at the time, Donald F. McGahn II, also wrote an internal memo outlining the concerns that had been raised about Mr. Kushner — including by the C.I.A. — and how Mr. McGahn had recommended that he not be given a top-secret clearance.

    Is Trump a Russian agent?

Eventually we will find the truth and some will go to jail because of FISA warrant abuse but that is not going to satisfy what you crave.....then what are you going to do?
