Trump said Thursday he takes North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “at his word” that Kim was unaware of the alleged mistreatment of an American college student who died after being imprisoned there.

Kim “tells me he didn’t know about it, and I will take him at his word,” Trump said in Vietnam.

The CIA had concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman himself had ordered the assassination of Khashoggi. Trump defied the nation’s intelligence agencies and a growing body of evidence, declaring his unswerving loyalty to Saudi Arabia, asserting that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s culpability for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi might never be known. “We may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi,” Trump said.

Trump, in a stunning rebuke of the US intelligence community, declined to endorse the US government's assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, saying he doesn't "see any reason why" Russia would be responsible.

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today," Trump said

I am glad you brought that up. We need a complete review of Trump's transgressions. Trump's fans might wonder which side you are on. Here is post #84. Thanks again for the assist.

The Mueller investigation is all about Trump. The others are small potatoes. Here is a short review of the case against Trump.

No less than nine of Trump's close associates have connections to the Russian government or were involved in concealed payoffs. One was the former chief of the DOJ. One is his former NSA. One is a former campaign manager. One was a former deputy campaign manager. One was his personal lawyer for ten years. Another one is his son-in-law, and another is his son.

In December 2016, Mike Flynn made a deal with the Russian ambassador for Trump, the elected President. Try to imagine private citizen Flynn doing that all on his own.

We know of at least one occasion where his son, son-in-law, and his campaign manager met with representatives of the Russian government at Trump's home, Trump Tower, to gain an advantage in the election. Put all this together, and it is extremely unlikely the hands-on manager did not know what was going on.

Trump has been accused of obstruction of justice. This charge is related to his firing of the FBI director. At the time, the FBI was actively engaged in the Russian probe.

In May 2017 Trump met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office. He had this to say about the firing of James Comey, his FBI director.

"I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job," Trump said. "I faced great pressure because of Russia. That's taken off." "I'm not under investigation," he added.

Trump appreciated the help from the Russians and WikiLeaks. “WikiLeaks! I love WikiLeaks,” Trump proclaimed at a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, rally on Oct. 10, 2016. “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said during a news conference in an apparent reference to Clinton’s deleted emails. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Why in the world would Trump be so foolish as to collaborate with the Russian government in a Presidential election? Is he really that naive?

One possible answer is, his hands were caught in the cookie jar. Evidence suggests that he was involved in money laundering with Russian interests. This further suggests that Putin knows about it, and he is extorting the President.

Why, on a number of occasions, did Trump encourage the Russians and WikiLeaks to involve themselves in the election is a question no one can answer and suggests extreme naiveté on Trump's part, or a strong belief that he is above the law -- the law does not pertain to him. Who knows, but it was stupid.

Time reports, "Testimony to the U.S. Congress by the head of a political research firm indicates that the Trump Organization’s sales of properties to Russian nationals may have involved money-laundering.

“Transcripts reveal serious allegations that the Trump Organization may have engaged in money laundering with Russian nationals. Patterns of buying and selling were suggestive of money-laundering."

One important factor that we all must keep in mind. Trump never does the dirty work. He gets others to do it for him. Picture Trump calling the Russian ambassador to make a deal in December 2016. Never happen, right. So, claiming that Trump never collaborated with the Russians or did not know about the activities of his son, son-in-law, campaign manager, and personal lawyer on his behalf is meaningless and useless as a defense tactic. Trump is responsible for what the Trump campaign did in his name.

Yup, I forget my thorough review of the allegations against Trump which include obstruction of justice by trying interfere in the FBI investigation.

Once again, I thank you for reminding me so we could all see that review. I had forgotten all about that post. You have been a great help to me.

You forget a lot. You’ve already forgotten how I proved it can’t be obstruction if he was doing what the opposition party wanted. :)

Your welcome. It’s fun watching you demonstrate you have no idea what you are talking about. I guess you are under orders from Moscow and can only post what Putin approves of. How is he feeling today, Sandy?

Why didn't you comment on this post? Hitting home, maybe. These are issues Trump's fans do not want to talk about.

WASHINGTON — The United States and South Korea will suspend two large-scale joint military exercises this spring, two American officials said Friday, as part of President Trump’s efforts to maintain the truce he has struck with Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea.

The decision to scale back the military exercises follows nuclear talks this week between Mr. Trump and Mr. Kim that ended without an agreement on how — or whether — to shut down North Korea’s nuclear weapons program. As the Trump administration continues to seek a resolution, a Defense Department official said, the high-profile missile exercises that Pyongyang views as provocative will be toned down.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/01/world/asia/us-military-exercises-south-korea.html

The Trump Pentagon is sensitive to Pyongyang's feelings. Kim has to be laughing his fool head off.

First this. Trump defended Kim Jong Un, saying he believed the North Korean leader was unaware of the gravity of Mr. Warmbier’s medical condition. “He tells me that he didn’t know about it, and I will take him at his word,” Trump said.

Then the sensitivity toward Pyongyang's feelings.

I think I am going to be ill again.

Trump is acting like an agent of the Kremlin.

You are incorrect.....again. I did respond to this nutty post you pasted in your other thread titled “Trump’s Fans Know They Have Lost”. But you never pay any attention to what others say. You take your orders from Moscow seriously I guess. Putin’s propaganda must be posted. You haven’t time to read other posts or reflect on other points of view. More evidence Sandy is a Russian agent...

If you are interested my response is post #154 in that thread.

Chris Strohm and Larry Liebert of Bloomberg write, "When Special Counsel Robert Mueller closes up shop and submits his long-awaited final report -- possibly within days -- it will be only the start of an explosive chain of events.

"There will be a struggle in Congress, on cable TV and social media and probably in the courts over how much must be disclosed from what will begin as a secret report to Attorney General William Barr.

"There also will be an epic political fight over whether the findings implicate President Donald Trump in wrongdoing that may even merit his impeachment, as some Democrats say, or clear him after a 21-month investigation that he and other Republicans call a “witch hunt."

"Justice Department regulations call for a special counsel to provide a final report to the attorney general, who decides what to tell Congress and make public.

"At Barr’s confirmation hearing in January, he cited the Justice Department’s policies that a president can’t be indicted while in office -- and that prosecutors shouldn’t comment on someone who isn’t indicted.

"Former FBI Director James Comey’s public comments on Democrat Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server brought criticism at various points from both Democrats and Republicans even if it arguably set a precedent.

“If you’re not going to indict someone, then you don’t stand up there and unload negative information about the person,” Barr told the Senate Judiciary Committee."

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...eport-will-ignite-an-epic-war-over-disclosure

Barr never explained that statement in relationship to possible impeachment. Trump is not just a "someone." He is the President, and he can be impeached. In the case of impeachment, indictment becomes a non sequitur.

Barr does not decide on impeachment proceedings related to the Mueller report, the House of Representatives does.

"Only the start"? When are you alt-lefties going to get the job done? You have been chasing your tail for years. A date would be helpful.
BTW, I will defend Trump for hugging the American flag at CPAC, somehow Trump haters seem to be opposed to this sort of behavior, their preference being typing hate Trump posts and knitting pink hats.

Cohen said Trump is a con artist. He is also a showman, delving into the surreal and pure fiction. Such is the case of this showy demonstration of fake patriotism.

Fake patriotism? Over the decades millions and millions of Americans, including this one and many here, have shown their love of country by volunteering for military service. Their love of country is not shown by fatuous displays as is the case with Trump. Their love of country is self-evident because they put their very life on the line.

But not Trump. He is into mocking patriotism on the part of others. Why? He avoided military service.

In 1968, at the age of 22, Trump was the picture of health.

He stood 6 feet 2 inches with an athletic build; had played football, tennis and squash; and was taking up golf. His medical history was unblemished, aside from a routine appendectomy when he was 10.

But after he graduated from college in the spring of 1968, making him eligible to be drafted and sent to Vietnam, he received a diagnosis that would change his path: bone spurs in his heels.

The diagnosis resulted in a coveted 1-Y medical deferment that fall, exempting him from military service as the United States was undertaking huge troop deployments to Southeast Asia, inducting about 300,000 men into the military that year.

The deferment was one of five Trump received during Vietnam. The others were for education.

Remember that as you look back up and take another look at the photo.

"(CNN)The impeachment of President Donald Trump suddenly looks like much more than just a theoretical possibility.

"Democrats on Monday will launch an "abuse of power" investigation that could be easily transformed into an even more serious process, with an expansive demand for documents from Trump's government, his family and even his real estate empire.

"The President reacted to his worsening plight with a vehement defense on Sunday, after a week in which testimony from his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen deepened his political vulnerability and ahead of the expected filing soon of special counsel Robert Mueller's report."

I am beginning to wonder, why, with all his baggage, did Trump run for President. He has to be asking himself that question.
