About a 1000 years go we did trhe same thing to them. It is wonder they are pissed. Our issue is that we don't know how to respond to people that are this violent. I wish ai know the answer but our way of life is under attack and we are not sure what to do but we can't sit back and ignore it, it won't go away.

don'[t see anyone ignoring it. Actually I see a lot of the bad guys getting killed and increasingly they are turning on their fellow muslims (it appear to be a tad safer). They are losing support because their "theology" is all about politics and hatred and oppression.

Uh huh, and yet the 9/11 Commission report concluded that Saddam had no "collaborative relationshop" with Al Qaeda. What do you say to that? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47812-2004Jun16.html

The 9-11 Commission report is nonsense. The conspiracy theorists have told us so.

When you write "OUR politicians," exactly to whom are you referring?

Politicians in the United States, or in Egypt?

Which are you today Mayerling, an American or an Egyptian? It seems to change with the wind.

The differences between America and the Muslim world are too profound to be bridged. Separation is the only way in which coexistence is possible. No contact.

BRILLIANT! global aparthied!! what a solution.

the differences between the American religious right and the muslim world are too profound to be bridged. But that can mostly be attributed to profound ignorance of the other on either side.

BTW. I didn't think tony curtis did a very good job.

Your use of the term apartheid is a malapropism. For apartheid to exist one group must control itself and other groups and use force to maintain separation. Your error lies in the fact that America will not control the Muslim world. America should avoid foreign entanglements with the Muslim world.

I don't know what your reference to Tony Curtis means. I'm not part of the American religious right. I'm an atheist.

Don't look for trouble with me. Discourse is fine, but insults aren't wise.

He used ''Abid Al-Karim Muhamed Aswod, intelligence officer responsible for the coordination of activities with the Osama bin Laden group at the Iraqi embassy in Pakistan.''

Good enough how about global segregation then. American CANT avoid foreign entanglements and remain the sole superpower.

tony Curtis played Albert de Salvo - the boston strangler, but I just realized you spell it with a di and he spelled it with a de. And I never claimed you were from the religious right. If you re read the sentence I was making a remark about two religious groups and their ignorance towards each other. I'm an atheist too, its not a big deal.

Well tough guy I didn't insult you at all but I can see you are a tad sensitive.

America isn't going to remain a superpower. At the present rate it won't even remain a unitary polity.

    Yes it does -
"Regarding my credentials, I am a retired computer programmer, and in my spare time I have worked as a professional historical consultant on the atomic bombing of Japan.

I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Adrian College (1973) in Adrian, Michigan."
    Wow.

I don't think it has much to do with abrahamists versus each other , they are pretty much the same and by luck the west had humanism and renaissance while others didn't.

The question here is how much we as westerners can tolerate people who threaten our civilisation , of course the roots of our cultures say that we should embrace pluralism and that evolution comes through the struggle of ideas but is islam an idea?
I think it is not , it is an unacceptable religion with unacceptable practices and their existence is an insult to our species , steps should be taken for their complete annihilation .

Violence is their way of life. What they cannot control, they destroy. Go tell them to take it easy.
They are on a mission to conquer the world. That makes them my enemies, although I'm not an agressor.
But you're right. If they start that crap over here, then I will defend to the last drop.
....they love you too, because it may seem that you'd rather switch than die after making such a statement. Or maybe you're already converted?

It is precisely comments like this which causes people to fly aeroplanes into high buildings. Here's a tip; want to be left in peace? Then stop deliberately pissing people off.

I re-read my last post and it is poorly written. .. I agreed in general with your comments on the difference.

That Falwell is not as much of a lunatic as Bin Ladin does not change that Bin Ladin does not represent all Mulslims. Which was the point.

The overall point is that religious finaticism should be called out for what it is when it is doing bad things.
