    Interesting historical events, thanks!

That being said I don’t think the government or any politician would ever attempt to do a mass weapon confiscation of weapons.
Most likely, they would start with a weapon buyback — perhaps several rounds of this program. Followed by fines and ending production of ammo (or a huge tax)

For the record I don’t agree with banning weapons but I do support registration, background checks on resale, and insurance.

They don’t cheat as much, they cheat much more.
There is nothing wrong with picking up ballots especially for people that cannot make it to the box — although I agree there needs to be a chain of custody. The issue comes when those ballots are sorted and then tossed like we saw in North Carolina by republicans.

Republicans made themselves not be able to get on the ballot.

How about all of the post after the part on gerrymandering I already addressed. And give it a rest will you? Both parties gerrymander in the way that they think works best for them. The Democrats do it their way because they think they'll win, or do you think they deliberately handicap themselves when cheating to gain votes. Republicans do what works best for them. I agree that gerrymandering is wrong, but I won't blame the GOP because the Democrats definitely started it (it is named after one of their pols).

I wasn’t aware either of those events have happened in either of those cities in 2019, have a source? I knew about the Typhoid outbreaks but didn’t know about the two you are attributing to them.

And there is the entire issue with out two party system.

Each side justifies their actions based on the misdeeds of the other and then shrug when their “side” takes it and amplifies it to a much larger degree.

It’s a race to the bottom with no one being held accountable

Oops! I meant typhoid, and I think quite recently in LA, the plague. The benefits of living in sanctuary cities!

Actually, I'd rather have dysentery than typhoid or the plague. All you have to do to recover from dysentery is keep yourself hydrated.

And as for burning witches, that never happened in the US, so we both were fantasizing.

When we had Bush, Democrats called him Hitler. When we ran Romney, Democrats called him Hitler. And now Democrats are screaming at the sky because Trump is Hitler. Republicans would have liked to have another gentleman as president, but this time we wanted a fighter because Democrats fight dirty.

Until Democrats become civilized and play fair, Republicans are going to stoop as low as they do, and even lower if it gets us the win.

Which is why everyone should vote against republicans if they value their country.

I couldn’t have put the current Republican Party platform any better.

We've just figured out that it takes two to play fair and the Democrats have never played fair. So now we're out to win. I find it interesting that you don't decry the bad behavior of the Democrats, just that the Republicans are trying to beat them at their cheatin' game. Hyper-partisan, heal thyself.

Yeah, Janet Reno was not known for her restraint or wise judgement. Just ask those Davidian children that the FBI burned to death for their own good.

That’s strange seeing that I called out “Each side” in post 111 and “Both sides definitely gerrymander — I am against either side doing it“ in post 102. Not to mention the plethora of threads where I have been completely disgusted with the Democrats on numerous issues. There is unfortunately a greater evil...

One side I now view as an enemy to the people, that view has been reinforced by posters like yourself.
I have gone from center right — having voted mostly for fiscal conservatives in my short voting life — to probably never voting for anyone with an R beside their name again.

Unless you become a billionaire, this is, without a doubt, the wisest decision one could possible make.

Cool. I said both sides Gerrymander and that it was wrong. But as long as Democrats start doing bad things and cheat at politics, Republicans have to start doing the same or worse to make them feel the pain and start being civilized.

If you think that makes the GOP the enemy of the people, well....pass.

They won't show up at the house for that specific reason; those who don't turn in their weapons voluntarily, if caught will most likely face 10 years to life in prison for illegal possession. Think about it; when thompson sub machine guns were outlawed, law enforcement didn't show up at the owners front doors, if you were caught, you paid a steep price. Most owners voluntarily turned them in for the most part. If you are a law abiding citizen, if the laws are changed then you obey them whether or not you agree with them.

To an extent. I envision losing my AR-15, even though modified to comply with California law, in a boating accident.

I don't agree that we should just accept whatever law comes about simply because it's a law, especially when it's centered around a constitutional right, and doesn't make sense to begin with. And 10 years to life? That's a grave injustice. It's insane to take a law abiding citizen today, then turn him into a felon tomorrow... over something that'll have a miniscule affect towards solving a problem.

No ban on the AR or AK.

As long as they never turn up in your possession, you'll have nothing to worry about otherwise whatever the penalty is you'll most likely have to serve it.

If the weapon in question is turned in, you'll never have to worry about serving anytime. If you disagree with the law, use the legal system to address your concerns; that's what most law abiding citizens do in this country.
