We have seen a child who for the past nine years has claimed he brought the country out of a severe recession even though it ended around 110 days after he took office, before his policies could have had any effect.

For eight years we had children running the economic policy which gave us the slowest economic recovery in seventy years despite almost zero interest rates, a massive Federal Reserve infusion of money, massive increases in government spending and around a $10 trillion increase in federal debt.

Today, we have an adult who learned from history that capitalism, the private sector, lower taxes and fewer regulations are the way to make the economy thrive. We currently have economic growth of three percent (much faster than the children said the economy could grow) and exceptionally low unemployment rates.

BUT, we also have OPEN BORDERS, thanks to Democrat Obstruction. Democrats would rather SHUTDOWN THE GOVERNMENT than secure the open border that allows killers to come in and out like its an open door.

I despise Pelosi but why is this news? Trump, who I also despise, started the shutdown with his idiotic demand to spend money on a border wall.

Walls only work when built in the right place, in the right way and with enough guards to watch them. When well guarded and patrolled they serve to slow an intruder and focus their efforts where they can be seen and interdicted. This implies a carefully designed system, not simply pouring money into a wall you haven't even thought about how to defend.

Consider the Berlin Wall. Hugely successful, even though it was for an evil purpose. It worked because of the enormous commitment to watching and guarding every foot of it.

Same with the Great Wall of China, which is actually numerous walls built over centuries. During regimes that maintained armies guarding the walls, they worked. When they were poorly staffed, they failed.

Stop talking about Trump's simple minded demands. We need experts to design improvements to Border Security, Port Security and Visa Enforcement. We need a guest worker program, and fixes to our dysfunctional and slower than a turtle immigration system. We need focus on the real threat, the organized criminal cartels challenging Mexico's government with dollars taken out of American lives hooked on drugs.

We do not need to hand $5 billion to Donald Trump as if he's making a real estate deal.

Are you aware that a spending bill was voted on by the senate with 100 senators out of 100 voting aye.
Trump owns this 100%. Someday, hopefully soon, the Republican senators will find their spines. A 100-0 vote should have been veto proof but they're too gutless to do their jobs. All for a useless wall that will stand as a very expensive monument to bigotry.
