Gun laws will only be obeyed by the law abiding, who will become easy targets for criminals. Who will be able to resist a home invasion by a group of thugs? Can you overcome 3 or 4 people armed with knives and baseball bats? Criminals would have a field day with a disarmed public, even if they did give up their guns.

Nobody would dare compile this data, but what percentage of violent criminals are liberal supporters and what percentage of violent criminals are conservative supporters?

Since you are clearly incapable of reading and comprehending the plain text of the US Constitution (and subsequent Court opinions that strengthen it), "well thought out" doesn't seem to be necessary.
Considering the 2nd didn't grant the Right in the first place, getting rid of it wouldn't make the Right go away. Indeed, it would render the government an actual Tyranny, obligating it's overthrow by the People.
