Lol if you think he will really be the front runner. Just because the GOP can't come up with a decent candidate doesn't mean Newt will be de facto GOP candidate.

Wait and see, and yes you can hold me to my prediction that Newt will not be running against Obama.

That is a great example of a GOP success story. Now if only we could have that here with an elimination of minimum wage!

Don't most states have working papers that allow minors to seek employment before they turn 18? If this is the case, why do people think child labor laws are stupid? If you want your child to work, get them working papers.

Detasseling corn. Hmm, now that's a useful life-skill; especially for when you're detasseling corn.

The OP and the Huffington Post both totally missed the point, and totally misconstrued the meaning. Speaking of pompous windbags, leftists are just too stupid, plus, they suck.

That was not the point he was making in any way, shape, or form.

I started at 11 as well and it was poop work, literally, at a kennel. I was a forced union member at 14.

Child labor is ESSENTIAL in the 3rd world, far from a crime, it's possibly the only way to feed the kids.

I'll agree that Newt is sleazy, unethical, used-up, etc. However, can you show that child labor laws ever actually helped children? By the time any were enacted, there were very few children, if any, actually laboring to any significant degree. Mostly they are just used to protect union workers from having to compete and to punish small businesses for employing eager teenagers for more than a couple of hours a day.

No they don't. If you get a child working papers, they have parental consent to work. The only limits are a minimum age and amount of hours they can work. It's so hard to sign one form. Therefore, we need to eliminate child labor laws.

Great idea. It's the way we used to do it back in the old days. Makes young people responsible and puts a little money in their pockets. Many of these laws have some unintended consequences.....like this one and the Minimum wage. Only hurts young people who want to earn some money by working part time.

    STOP DRINKING THE KOOL AID.

Again why do you want to deprive an 11 or 12 year old of the ability to help his or her struggling family by bagging groceries on the weekend?

If you want your kid to work when they are 11 or 12 years old, get them working papers.

Screw that... there are plenty of children that are MUCH MUCH better served working on their school work than getting a job at the local piggly wiggly stocking a beer cooler a few hours a week. Paper routes and caddies are of a time gone past. The notion that aside from spending money spent on stupid crap a YOUNG kid gets anything out of work that can't be taught to them in better and more educational ways is ludacris. High school at the very least before any work and then ages 15-17 VERY VERY restricted.

If you want a minor to work move to a 3rd world country, good luck.
