TBC- I trust me with my life. I mistrust everyone and everything that would use force or coersion to get me to use any product or service, including Trump if he goes that route. I don't trust Trump tell me what medicine is safe, and so long as using a medicine remains my choice, I don't have to.

First of all, no it isn't just a fact!! We don't actually know the mortality rate yet. We have a better idea today than we did a few months ago, but we can't say anything is "just a fact" about this disease at the moment. Is 1% a reasonable estimate? Sure. However, we simply don't have enough data yet to say that is a fact. It is too new.

Secondly, you assert that the lockdown will do more damage with absolutely NO evidence. It is simply a Trump talking point. Of course we can't be under lockdown forever, but the idea that we need to open up immediately, because this disease isn't that serious, is absolutely absurd.

Lastly, even if we accept your 1% death rate, that is extraordinarily high!! You are pretending, oh its just 1% of people, we can't shut down for that. That is insanity. The alternative is to try to reach herd immunity. If we do that in America, that means we would need 70-90% of people to get infected and gain immunity. If we need to reach 70% to get herd immunity and 1% of that 70% died, that would lead to 2.3 million deaths!! If we need to get to 90%, that would lead to about 3 million deaths. That is a catastrophe!! That is more deaths than in every war we've ever fought combined. If you think any response to that could be wildly disproportionate, short of mass murder or imprisonment, you don't understand what we are facing. Of course we can't stay closed until this passes. What we CAN do, is wear masks, keep physical distancing maintained, don't go out needlessly, and generally take this disease as seriously as it deserves to be taken.

PS. Even if the mortality rate is .05%, it would still mean between 1-2 million deaths.

 

And that won't work, because people aren't idiots. The economy isn't in dire straights because we had lockdown. It is in dire straights because are living through a pandemic. Most states in the country are reopened now and it hasn't led to some magical recovery. I wonder when people will wake up to the fact that the danger here is pandemic and opening up too early, not in opening up too slowly.

PS. Trump can't eviscerate anyone in a debate. Biden does show possible signs of senility, but Trump at his height was an imbecile. On top of that, age has also not been kind to him. If you think he can eviscerate anyone not currently in a coma in a debate, you are living in a fantasy world.

You do support coercing it though, by mandating it in public schools. What part of my post do you feel that this contradicts? In particular, the bold part makes it very clear, that if coronavirus is brought under control and the economy recovers, Trump will most likely be reelected. However, I am not sure how the news that we have now only lost 17.5 million jobs, as opposed to 20 million jobs, can be interpreted as a good thing.

 

A lot of folks are making good money on unemployment with the extra ~$2600 a month that ends in July. They likely will not return to the workforce until August.

I called to make an appointment for an outpatient procedure and was told that I would be REQUIRED to get a COVID-19 test. I declined because there are some questions about the source of the tests and the possible transmission of the virus via the test.

I know that President Trump said that the vaccine will NOT be mandatory, but it feels like it could come to that as more people refuse to be tested. It might be something like "Well, we have to vaccinate to ensure that you cannot infect others *in case* you have it." So, either we get prodded or poked. I hope it doesn't come to that.

I had it once in 2017 and words cant describe it. I´m very fit and healthy. Within hours i went from normal to a state, where i could not walk up stairs anymore. Half a hour later i had to lay down on the floor and think myself if i can still crawl to the phone. My family and girlfriend were not at home.

Its like it sucks out the life of you. When my girl arrived at home, she brought me tothe clinic.

A Virus that can do this to a healthy young person is much more devastating to a sick or elderly person.

Since then i get teh flu shot evry year.

As for COVID 19, it must be mandatory that evryone who is not vaccinated can not travel

The way we plan it in Germany. When entering Airport you have to show your vaccination papers. Same applies for tourists entering Germany. You have no vaccination you are either send back, or put into quarantine for 14 days.

 

I have no problem with you doing that in Germany.

 

It applys for entire EU. Australia, New Zealand as well. Japan and South Korea plan the same procedure and Kanada will most likely follow.
