I found this interesting since it is exactly what I have been saying... Also thank you for the link!!!

    From Margot's link...
Some geologists believe that quite dramatic, unusually great flooding of rivers in the distant past might have influenced the legends. Also episodes of massive flooding of short duration of ocean coastal areas have been caused by tsunamis.

If Iraq was in the Black Sea it would... If it was in the Mediterranean it would... You truly are a genius aren't you?

Question genius... Where did Noah lift off from anyway? So... I know it's hard, but put the megafloods with where Noah might have taken off... You know, something just might click!

    We can only hope! :)

It doesn't matter if there's 8.8, 1.9 million or just a thousand different species on the earth, it's absolutely amazing that otherwise sane peeople can believe in that story.

It shows a complete lack of understanding of mutual relationships between living organisms.

The flood story, either it's in the Babylonian, Sumerian or Judaic version, was told and eventually written by people with the same intelligence as anyone else. Just like there is no reason to think that Aesop had any less intelligence than his contemporaries for conveying lessons by attributing sentience and the faculty of speech to animals. I'm quite sure he didn't intend that part to be taken literally. Likewise, the flood stories are neither about life on earth nor geology nor logistic qualities attributed to Atrahasis, Utnapishtim or Noah.

I dont know considering all of Gods powers I think creating a boat and loading it up is a small one. But I do believe that that part of the OT was ment to be a story or parable if you will, not history.

Okay so are you saying that the "boat" would have been more like Dr Who's "Tardis" bigger on the inside than on the outside?

Mind you given all the excrement from all those animals it would have been more like the "Turdis"

The Ark was all an elaborate sceme by the galactic conqueror Yahweh to prevent Noah from learning too much. Of course he didn't get every species. Yahweh simply let him believe that so he wouldn't wonder where all the animals came from after the flood. They were gradually teleported back to earth to repopulate it. Only floodwaters can kill the alien-human hybrids that Yahweh was attempting to destroy with the flood. Jesus Christ, rstones, read your Bible for once.

Considering God created the universe is any thing beyond that kind of power? But realy it is a moral lesson not history.

There are so many people who claim that the bible is the literal word of god and that every single thing happened exactly how it was written to claim that it's all supposed to be allegory.

It's a good thing religious leaders have never taken the Bible literally and say executed people for believing it's not the literal truth.

What is really unbelievable is that there are actually adults that believe that twaddle. LOL
Maybe those believers should get off their knees and experience life and see just how foolish that entire set of tales is.

Your disdain for Christians or the Bible is of little importance to me and other Christians.

Actually there are lots of Christians who are dismayed by Biblical literalists. The mental distortions they must go through to maintain such patent absurdities can only be considered damaging to the brain or mind or soul or whatever you want to call it.

It's been shown time and time again how the idolization of mere words at the expense of using "the brain God gave you" can warp moral thinking. If religion can not or does not actually improve moral thinking, I can think of no good use for it.

Punctuation should be your friend. Don't reject it.

The Catholic Church (largest single Christian church in the world) is against the idea of a literal interpretation of the Bible. It's just a ridiculous thing.

If God wanted us to worship him day and night then why give us a brain. He could have just made us robotic .. bowing 24/7.

If God wants us to think for ourselves then why would he not make the evidence for the flood and creationism match with the Bible.

The evidence does not match so God then must be playing jokes on humans .

If God is fond of making jokes then perhaps the Bible, or at least parts of it, is also a joke.

Saudi Arabia is excavating a city in central Arabia that's 9,000 years old.. Geology proves that 10,000 years ago it was a well watered Savannah and they domesticated horses.

They also found mummies and all manner of tools.

Actually there are not. And what upsets you and others is the fact that believers belief the Bible.

Who cares what you think about us or our God. You won't stop us from believing. You won't stop God from existing. You simply spout off as though that was going to do something. But it doesn't.

My mistake... I never knew that Noah set sailed from Iraq... Because that's where Jesus is from also right? Iraq...

You truly are a genius aren't you! Now go back and figure out the "context" which Iraq was spoken of, after you do that - find out why you are so far off topic...

After that - wonder how I find your posts comical... :)
